Dog Suffering in 110-Degree Heat After Reported Dumping: Demand Justice

Target: Steve Wolfson, Clark County District Attorney, Nevada

Goal: Seek vigorous prosecution, meaningful jail time, and lifetime animal-ownership bans for those responsible for a dog apparently suffering in triple-digit heat and for other reported acts of cruelty.

A tiny dog was reportedly abandoned in searing, 110-degree heat, panting and distressed, with only a sliver of shade and no immediate access to water. Rescuers rushed the animal to safety—another heartbreaking scene in what advocates describe as a surge of cruelty cases. In such temperatures, even minutes without water and proper shelter can be the difference between life and death.

Recent reports from the area have highlighted similarly disturbing cases: a bulldog found paralyzed and clinging to life; another dog discovered with a broken leg and signs that point to abuse; and a separate case in which a woman was accused of hoarding dozens of sick and deceased cats. Each of these incidents points to a wider crisis for companion animals.

This petition calls on prosecutors to treat these offenses as serious crimes, not mere “neglect.” Suspects should face the maximum penalties allowed by law—along with restitution for veterinary costs, mandatory counseling, and lifetime bans on animal ownership. Sign below to demand swift, assertive action to send a clear message that suffering inflicted on animals will not be tolerated.

PETITION LETTER:

District Attorney Wolfson,

A small dog was discovered struggling in 110-degree heat, reportedly left without water or shelter and fighting to survive. Advocates also cite additional incidents in the community—ranging from a paralyzed bulldog to another dog with a broken leg, and a separate situation in which a woman was accused of hoarding dozens of sick and deceased cats—underscoring what appears to be a troubling pattern of cruelty.

We respectfully urge your office to prioritize these cases. Please pursue the most serious charges supported by the evidence, request meaningful jail time where warranted, and seek court-ordered restitution for medical treatment, mandatory psychological counseling, and lifetime bans on animal ownership. These measures help protect vulnerable animals and can deter future offenses.

Animals depend on us for safety and care. By seeking strong penalties and comprehensive conditions in plea agreements or sentencing recommendations, your office can affirm that deliberate neglect and cruelty have no place in our community.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
