Body-camera footage reportedly shows a trespassing suspect clutching a small Yorkie before allegedly hurling the terrified dog directly at an approaching officer. The impact reputedly sliced the officer’s hand and sent the animal tumbling as the man fled the scene.
According to police, the 41-year-old suspect then allegedly forced his way into a woman’s apartment, held her against her will, and only surrendered after a K-9 unit intervened. The dog was later recovered and, as reported by authorities, is safe.
The accused now faces charges that include false imprisonment, battery, and resisting an officer, and investigators are coordinating with Animal Welfare to explore additional animal-cruelty counts. Using a living creature as a projectile reportedly inflicted both physical harm and severe psychological trauma. Allowing such cruelty to go lightly punished would endanger other animals and undermine community trust in the justice system.
