Demand Justice for Horses Allegedly Found Dead and Dying of Neglect

Target: Alexcia Cox, State Attorney for Palm Beach County, FL

Goal: Hold those allegedly responsible for the severe neglect and cruelty of multiple horses accountable.

The case of a herd of horses in West Palm Beach, Florida, highlights a deeply troubling episode of alleged cruelty that demands immediate attention and action. Authorities responded to complaints describing emaciated horses on the property of Pamela Howell Beres, where it was reportedly found that one horse had tragically died due to neglect. Disturbing reports detail that another horse was in critical condition, exhibiting alarming signs such as dehydration, laboring to breathe, and visible injuries, despite a veterinarian’s recommendation for euthanasia. The assertion made by Beres, denying the dire state of the horse and insisting it would survive, seemingly paints a chilling picture of the denial of animal suffering and responsibility.

It is reported that in addition to the one horse that died, inspections revealed six more horses and one pony suffering from extreme emaciation and deprived of essential resources. The horses showed pronounced signs of distress, with many described as nearing starvation. A lack of adequate food and fresh water, alongside the presence of only remnants of hay, allegedly led to their deteriorating condition. The enumeration of animal cruelty charges against Beres includes seven counts each for animal cruelty and for confining animals without sufficient food and water.

It is crucial that those responsible for the severe neglect and cruelty towards these horses are held accountable for their actions. The reported facts present a compelling case for justice, as allowing such behavior to continue threatens the welfare of animals in our communities. The demand is clear: ensure that appropriate penalties are imposed on those allegedly responsible for this heartbreaking episode of animal cruelty, protecting future animals from similar fates.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Cox,

The recent discoveries regarding the alleged neglect and mistreatment of multiple horses in West Palm Beach are deeply concerning and underline the urgent need for justice. Authorities say they found that one horse had died as a result of neglect, and that subsequent examinations revealed many more horses in critically poor health suffering from extreme emaciation and lacking access to basic necessities such as food and water. Disturbingly, one horse was described as lying helplessly in its stall, unable to stand, and demonstrating clear signs of physical distress.

Witness reports indicate that conditions on Pamela Howell Beres’ property were egregiously neglectful, with multiple horses found nearly starving and in desperate need of medical attention. Veterinarians reported that many of these horses required immediate care, including vital nutrition and medical treatment. The alleged behaviors exhibited by Beres during the veterinary examination further raise concerns about her capacity to care for these animals, as bizarre actions during a critical moment indicate a lack of understanding of their suffering.

It is imperative that justice is served in this case. Those responsible for such alleged neglect must face appropriate legal consequences to ensure accountability and to set a precedent against animal cruelty in our community. It is essential to protect at-risk animals from future harm and to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

Sincerely,
