Demand Justice for Children and Animals Found Living in Filth and Infested With Bugs

Target: Eric Hoffman, Delaware County Prosecutor

Goal: Ensure strict penalties for those allegedly responsible for the horrifying neglect of children and animals in unsanitary living conditions.

A recent incident in Eaton, Indiana, has unveiled a horrifying scenario involving alleged extreme neglect of both children and animals, sparking outrage within the community. Five individuals have been arrested following the reported discovery of a 12-year-old child infested with “several hundred bugs” in a home overflowing with filth, including floors smeared with animal feces. Two additional children, aged 3 and 5, were reportedly also living in these distressing conditions, raising urgent questions about their safety and well-being.

Authorities allegedly found numerous animals—five dogs, eight cats, and two rabbits—confined in cramped, filthy cages, many described as “emaciated and covered in feces.” The reported appalling living conditions and extensive neglect led to multiple charges against the suspects, including 15 counts of animal cruelty and neglect of dependents. The elderly and adult suspects, including a 76-year-old man and his relatives, are currently in custody.

The alleged wrongdoing described in this case calls for immediate and decisive action. Stricter penalties are not only warranted but necessary to ensure that offenders are held accountable for such appalling behavior. The welfare of children and animals cannot be compromised or overlooked. As such, it is imperative that charges are pressed and that those accountable face appropriate consequences for their actions.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Hoffman,

Recent findings in Eaton have raised serious concerns about the welfare of vulnerable individuals, both human and animal, stemming from alleged negligence and cruelty perpetrated by multiple individuals. The appalling sight of children and animals alike apparently suffering in a home filled with “several hundred bugs” and animal waste appears to be stark evidence of neglect that cannot be ignored. The living conditions reportedly allowed for such extreme unsanitary practices pose significant health risks and trauma to those involved.

As reported, authorities discovered not only a 12-year-old child surrounded by insects but also two younger children living in similar horrors. The animals, allegedly confined in cages and found to be “emaciated and covered in feces,” highlight the severe neglect that occurred under the watch of those purportedly responsible for their care. The growing distress among community members amplifies the urgency of addressing the alleged crimes and the fate of both the children and animals involved.

The necessity for justice and appropriate punishment in this case cannot be overstated. We urge you to ensure that charges are fully pursued, including the strongest penalties available for both child neglect and animal cruelty. Such measures are essential in conveying a message that neglect of this nature will not be tolerated within our community.

Sincerely,
