This seems to happen more in India simply because they have a very large population there. Statistically, there would be more crimes due to such a high population. When the crimes are noticed, they get a lot of attention. However, as the religions in India generally involve humane treatment of animals(in particular cows) the truth is that there is probably less animal cruelty there when you compare population levels and crimes by percent. Regardless, these crimes are awful. Another issue is that some of the people who commit these horrific crimes may be mentally ill, and there may be less access to mental health treatment.

We can’t negate a country and its people for being poor, everyone must try to help by donating to those established animal rescue groups and kind hearted citizens; or by spreading the word.
