Demand Justice for Dogs Brutally Abused and Left Emaciated, Allegedly Subjected to Machete Violence

Target: Sheriff Greg Champagne, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana

Goal: Ensure appropriate legal action against those allegedly responsible for the horrific abuse of dogs in Destrehan.

Recent incidents involving alleged animal abuse have caused an outcry within the community of Destrehan and beyond. Two residents, Doug Russell and Melissa LeBlanc, are accused of cruetly against multiple dogs at their residence. It has been reported that Russell used a machete to discipline a dog after an attack on another dog, while neglecting to provide necessary medical assistance for the injured animal. Law enforcement arriving on site say they discovered several emaciated and injured dogs within the home, indicating a grave pattern of neglect and abuse.

Upon entering the home in question, deputies and animal control agents report encountering an alarming scene. The conditions of the dogs suggested a severe lack of care and concern from Russell and LeBlanc. Russell is facing seven counts of simple animal cruelty, two counts of aggravated animal cruelty, and additional charges related to rabies vaccinations. LeBlanc was also charged with seven counts of simple animal cruelty.

In light of the allegations, it is imperative that authorities address and penalize such inhumane behavior toward animals. Animal cruelty not only affects the immediate victims but also undermines community standards regarding the treatment of pets and the responsibility of pet owners. Appropriate legal action must be taken against those accused of abuse, ensuring justice for the animals involved and a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Champagne,

Shocking reports surrounding recent animal abuse allegations involving Doug Russell and Melissa LeBlanc have drawn significant concern from the community and animal welfare advocates. With reports indicating that Russell used a machete to discipline a dog and both individuals allowed multiple emaciated and injured dogs to suffer within their home, it is clear such actions represent appalling disregard for the welfare of animals.

The reported discovery by deputies and animal control agents of multiple injured dogs in such a terrible state is particularly alarming. Russell and LeBlanc’s reported charges are simply insufficient if not coupled with robust actions that reflect the severity of these alleged abuses.

In light of the disturbing nature of this case, it is critical that those allegedly responsible for these heinous acts receive appropriate legal repercussions. Ensuring accountability for animal cruelty is essential not only for the justice of these animals but also to set a precedent that such behavior will not be tolerated in our community. I urge you to pursue the strongest possible charges against Russell and LeBlanc and ensure they face the full consequences of their alleged actions.

Sincerely,
