Rottweiler Reportedly Left Without Food or Water for Weeks Demands Justice

Target: Charity Clark, Vermont Attorney General

Goal: Ensure maximum penalties for the alleged abandonment and severe neglect of a Rottweiler.

In a shocking case of animal cruelty, a 1.5-year-old Rottweiler named Hank was reportedly abandoned for weeks without food, water, heat, or electricity at a home in St. Albans, Vermont. Police arrested 34-year-old Kyle Gratton on felony animal cruelty charges after Hank was allegedly rescued in an emaciated state, having lost approximately 77 pounds due to prolonged neglect.

The dog, now receiving medical care thanks to the efforts of For the Love of Dogs Vermont, seems to have endured immense suffering before his rescue. This apparent blatant act of neglect is heartbreaking and unacceptable.

Abandoning a dog without basic necessities for survival is a severe violation of animal welfare laws and an egregious act of cruelty. Allowing such cases to go unpunished not only endangers animals but also sets a dangerous precedent that abuse is tolerable. It is crucial to hold offenders accountable and impose strict consequences to deter future acts of neglect.

We urge Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark to prosecute this case to the fullest extent of the law, ensuring justice for Hank and reinforcing Vermont’s commitment to protecting vulnerable animals from harm.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Clark,

The recent case of alleged severe animal neglect in St. Albans, Vermont, involving a 1.5-year-old Rottweiler named Hank, is deeply concerning. The dog was reportedly abandoned in a home for weeks without food, water, heat, or electricity. By the time he was rescued, Hank had apparently lost 77 pounds and was in critical condition, requiring extensive medical care.

The alleged perpetrator, Kyle Gratton, is now facing felony animal cruelty charges. Such heinous acts of neglect cannot be overlooked. Animals are sentient beings who rely on humans for care and protection, and abandoning them to suffer in such a manner is a gross violation of their welfare.

We respectfully urge you to pursue the maximum penalties in this case. Prosecuting this act of cruelty to the fullest extent of the law will send a strong message that animal neglect and abuse will not be tolerated in Vermont. Justice for Hank is not only about holding the alleged perpetrator accountable but also about preventing similar cases of cruelty in the future.

Thank you for your dedication to upholding justice and protecting vulnerable animals.

Sincerely,
