Help Homes Go Green and Energy Efficient

Target: Chris Wright, Nominee for U.S. Secretary of Energy

Goal: Invest in green living exteriors as means of elevated energy efficiency.

With record-breaking temperatures routinely taking place every summer and beyond, home-dwellers are searching for new ways to keep cool and conserve energy. Some individuals have turned to the past, utilizing methods once favored by ancestors. Green exteriors are experiencing a new life.

Green exteriors include vegetation and soil-adorned living roofs and living walls that absorb rainwater. Solar chimneys are another popular option. These structures are attached to the sides of homes and are comprised of dark paint that absorbs heat. They can also increase airflow and overall efficiency. Such methods can supplement passive housing measures like thick insulation and cool homes by lowering the temperature as much as seven degrees.

Sign the petition below to encourage investment in these energy-saving practices at the national level.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Wright,

As prices rise and temperatures climb, energy efficiency is becoming an increasingly important factor in the lives of Americans. Low-cost and common-sense measures that have been used for many years are available in the form of green exteriors. Solar chimneys, chilled beams, and living, vegetation-covered walls and roofs are just a few options that can cool homes by an average of seven degrees.

Please help build a promising legacy of energy efficiency by supporting and investing in these proven allies.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
