Demand Justice for Pets Left to Suffer and Die

Target: Harriett Baldwin, Worcestershire, England MP

Goal: Ensure thorough investigation and prosecution of individuals abandoning pets, causing suffering and death.

A disturbing rise in animal abandonment has led to countless pets suffering and dying due to neglect. Animals are being left locked in homes alone, without food or water, after their owners move out. Some are found in poor health, collapsed and left in isolated spots to suffer lingering deaths; others are sick kittens discarded in cardboard boxes or pet rabbits dumped in the wild with little chance of survival against predators.

The RSPCA has reported a significant increase in abandonment cases, with a 51% rise during the winter months over the past three years. In 2023 alone, there were over 20,999 reports of abandoned animals, and the trend is expected to continue. The cost of living crisis and the surge in pet ownership during the COVID-19 lockdown have contributed to this alarming situation, leaving many pets vulnerable to neglect and abandonment.

Abandoning pets is a form of animal cruelty that causes immense suffering and is illegal under animal welfare laws. It is imperative that authorities take decisive action to investigate these cases and prosecute individuals reportedly responsible for abandoning their pets. Prevent further suffering of innocent animals and uphold the standards of compassion and responsibility in our community.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear MP Harriett Baldwin,

I am writing to express deep concern over the alarming rise in animal abandonment, which has led to countless pets suffering and dying due to neglect. Animals are being left locked in homes alone, without food or water, after their owners move out. Others are found abandoned in isolated spots, left to suffer lingering deaths, or discarded in environments where they cannot survive.

The RSPCA has noted a significant increase in abandonment cases, with a 51% rise during the winter months over the past three years. This troubling trend is not only a violation of animal welfare laws but also a serious issue that affects the well-being of our community.

I urge you to allocate resources to thoroughly investigate these cases and to prosecute individuals reportedly responsible for abandoning their pets. By taking decisive action, you can help prevent further suffering of innocent animals and reinforce the importance of responsible pet ownership.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
