Cows Allegedly Kicked and Hit on Dairy Farm Deserve Justice

Target: Robbie Douglas-Miller, Minister of Animal Welfare, UK

Goal: Enforce animal welfare standards on farms where cows were allegedly kicked, jabbed with sharp objects, and violently dragged over the ground.

Recent undercover footage has allegedly exposed appalling abuse of dairy cows at farms supplying Muller and Marks & Spencer. Workers were reportedly caught hitting cows with poles, kicking them, and yelling abusive language in what appeared to be a hostile and cruel environment. In one incident, a worker allegedly jabbed a cow with a sharp object after shouting a slur. The footage also reportedly shows workers using metal chains, ropes, and broom handles to violently strike cows and calves, with one worker dragging a calf as its mother cried out in distress.

These farms, including one previously featured in Marks & Spencer’s advertising as promoting high animal welfare, have been suspended by both M&S and RSPCA Assured while investigations take place. However, the footage has cast serious doubts on the enforcement of animal welfare standards in the dairy industry, particularly after the Red Tractor inspection found no welfare concerns, despite the disturbing video evidence.

Animal welfare advocates, including activist Joey Carbstrong, have expressed concerns that this alleged abuse is far from an isolated incident. Carbstrong claims that abuse like this is common in the dairy industry when workers believe they are not being watched.

This is not just a matter of cruelty, but a fundamental ethical failure. We must demand that the dairy industry adopt stricter regulations, enhance oversight, and ensure that those allegedly responsible for such inhumane treatment of animals are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Take action now.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Robbie Douglas-Miller,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent undercover footage that allegedly revealed severe cases of animal abuse at dairy farms supplying Muller and Marks & Spencer. The video reportedly shows workers violently attacking cows with metal poles, kicking them, and using aggressive and abusive language, all while the animals allegedly endured extreme fear and distress. In one particularly horrifying instance, a worker was allegedly seen jabbing a cow with a sharp object after angrily shouting at it.

This behavior is utterly unacceptable and highlights systemic failures within the dairy industry. Despite one of the farms being featured in Marks & Spencer’s advertising for promoting high animal welfare standards, the footage apparently reveals appalling mistreatment of animals behind closed doors. These allegations demand immediate and decisive action.

I urge you to pursue the strongest possible penalties against the individuals allegedly responsible for these heinous acts of cruelty. Moreover, it is critical to implement more stringent, independent, and unannounced inspections at all dairy farms to ensure such alleged abuses are not repeated. Those found guilty of animal cruelty must face not only criminal charges but also permanent bans from the industry.

This is not just a matter of upholding the law; it is about basic compassion and decency. Consumers expect transparency and ethical practices from the brands they support. Please take swift and meaningful action to ensure the well-being of animals is always prioritized.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
