Man Accused of Beating His Dog to Death Must Face Maximum Penalties

Target: Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey, California

Goal: Ensure justice for a dog allegedly beaten to death and advocate for stricter enforcement of animal cruelty laws.

A shocking animal cruelty case has surfaced in Oroville, California, where 57-year-old Shane Eugene Rushing is accused of beating his dog, Rex, to death with a large stick. Witnesses reported Rushing repeatedly striking Rex on a sidewalk in the 2700 block of Oro Dam Boulevard East. Despite Rex’s desperate attempts to escape, he was allegedly tied to Rushing’s wheelchair and could not flee. Witnesses reported that Rushing continued to beat the dog even after Rex collapsed lifeless on the ground.

When officers from the Oroville Police Department arrived at the scene, they reportedly found Rex dead on the sidewalk. Rushing apparently told police that he had struck Rex after the dog allegedly bit him while he was trying to administer heartworm medication. Rushing, who has prior felony convictions, now faces serious charges of animal abuse. Make sure that justice is served.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Mike Ramsey,

I am writing to express my deep concern over the recent case of alleged animal cruelty in Oroville, where Shane Eugene Rushing is accused of beating his dog, Rex, to death. This seemingly horrific act, witnessed by several bystanders, highlights the need for justice to be served in cases of severe animal abuse. Rex was reportedly tied to Rushing’s wheelchair, leaving him unable to escape while he was repeatedly struck with a large stick.

This level of cruelty is deeply disturbing, and it is critical that Rushing faces the maximum legal penalties if found guilty. Animal abuse is not only an affront to the humane treatment of animals but also a serious crime that deserves to be met with strong consequences.

As the District Attorney, I urge you to seek the maximum penalties allowed under the law for this case of animal cruelty. Ensuring that those responsible for such acts are held accountable will send a powerful message that animal abuse will not be tolerated in our community.

Sincerely,

  1. This man beat Rex to death with a stick. He may be in a wheel chair but he is a murderer. How horrible. He is the devil! The law needs to come after him and show no mercy. The man needs t face the law and go to prison but he needs to be checked for his mental acuity. He may need to speak the rest of his life in a mental asylum. Either way, by prison or asylum, take this man off the streets. Place a life long ban on him so he can never own, work with, or be near any animals at any time. What a mean bastard. Why won’t the legal system step up animal protections? There is a need for more enforcement in these cases.

  2. Je ne comprends pas que les témoins de cette agression aggravée ne soient pas intervenus !!!
Ce tueur fou devrait aussi être battu à mort avec une barre de fer !
Oeil pour oeil dent pour dent !!!

Those ‘witnesses’ should have stepped in and stopped that brutal thug from murdering his poor dog. That is what I would have done. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH PEOPLE NOWDAYS? Are they all so addicted to mobile phones that they have no humanity left in them? Such a thing could never have happened when I was young, when there was NO INTERNET or mobile phones. Such a nasty evil man would not have been able to do this to his dog in public because the public would have stopped him, but not now, the younger generation, those under 40, seem devoid of compassion and too cowardly to step in when this sort of horrific event happens. SHAME on those witnesses! The b@st**d who did that to the innocent dog deserves to be executed, but the best anyone can hope for nowdays is a light prison sentence and a ban from keeping animals. There is very little bravery, humanity or justice any more.

Why oh why didn’t no-body stop this deranged, psychotic piece of human garbage from beating his dog to death in broad daylight??? Shame on those who watched and did NOTHING, they are as guilty as the sack-of-s**t that carried out this heinous atrocity.

  5. A wheelchair is not an excuse for this depraved and sadistic attack on a tethered animal and no one should ever get off for beating a defenseless dog to death. This guy is psychotic, he belongs in jail and in mandatory anger management classes for a decade. Everyone who failed to intervene when they could have should be performing community service in a shelter for the next year and they should be fined for aiding and abetting this attack.
