Demand Justice for Dog Allegedly Left to Die in Hot Sun

Target: Jonathan Meyer, Lewis County District Attorney, Washington

Goal: Ensure a thorough investigation and seek legal action against those who allegedly left a dog to die in extreme heat.

A tragic case of alleged animal neglect has come to light in Centralia, Washington, where a dog reportedly died after being left alone on a balcony for an extended period in extreme heat. According to a news release from the Centralia Police Department, officers responded to a report about two dogs in distress left on a balcony in the 400 block of West Pine Street. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found that one of the dogs had already died, while the other was rescued from the harsh conditions.

Temperatures in Centralia soared to 90 degrees Fahrenheit that day, creating dangerously hot conditions for the dogs seemingly left without shade, water, or proper ventilation. The surviving dog’s rescue underscores the severity of the situation and the apparent lack of care provided by the owner. The suspicious death of the other dog has prompted an ongoing investigation by the Centralia Police Department, with criminal charges for animal abuse pending the results of a necropsy.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the urgent need for a thorough investigation and strong legal action to hold those allegedly responsible accountable under Washington state law. It is crucial that the Lewis County District Attorney ensures justice for the deceased dog and takes decisive steps to prevent acts of neglect in the future. Safeguard the well-being of pets and promote responsible pet ownership.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Jonathan Meyer,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent case of alleged animal neglect in Centralia, Washington, where a dog reportedly died after being left alone on a balcony for an extended period in extreme heat. According to the Centralia Police Department, two dogs were left in distress on a balcony in the 400 block of West Pine Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered one dog had reportedly died due to the conditions, while the other was rescued.

The temperatures in Centralia that day reached 90 degrees Fahrenheit, creating a hazardous environment for the dogs seemingly left without shade, water, or ventilation. The tragic death of this dog is an apparent violation of Washington state law, which prohibits leaving animals in situations where their health and safety are compromised due to excessive heat, lack of water, or lack of ventilation. This case demands a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

I urge you to take immediate and decisive action to prosecute the person or persons responsible for this neglect to the fullest extent of the law. By pursuing justice in this case, you will send a clear message that animal neglect and abuse will not be tolerated in our community. It is essential that we protect the rights and welfare of all animals and ensure that such tragedies are prevented in the future.

Sincerely,

  1. These people are not idiots. They don’t like to be hot much less be put on a balcony in the hot sun for the entire day. If people are this dumb they shouldn’t be caring for animals. These people need life log bans on them so as to never own, work with, or be near any animals for the rest of their lives. I fear if they have kids. Our dogs are part of our family and they need to be treated just as a family member. The dogs were devoted to these people but that love shouldn’t come where death is the expense. These people don’t deserve dogs. These dogs loved them but that love was not returned. Please put the ban into effect!
