Dogs Reportedly Found in Filthy, Worm-Infested Kennel Covered in Feces Deserve Justice

Target: Hon. Kevin Brackett, Solicitor, 16th Judicial Circuit, South Carolina

Goal: Demand the immediate prosecution of the accused for animal abuse and ensure the welfare of the rescued dogs.

In a disturbing case of alleged animal abuse in Union, South Carolina, a couple has been charged after authorities found 19 dogs, including 16 puppies, reportedly living in deplorable conditions. On Monday, Union Public Safety officers responded to a call about animal abuse at a residence on Union Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers were allegedly met with a strong odor of feces and discovered a kennel covered in feces, bloody vomit, and worms.

The officers determined that the puppies were either full of worms or malnourished. Additionally, the three adult dogs apparently lacked rabies tags. The owners, William Vernon Haire and Sami Holcombe Haire, who were staying at the Union Inn, had left another man in charge of the animals’ care.

Both Haires have been charged with one count of violation of city ordinance and four counts of animal abuse. Impose strict enforcement of animal welfare laws and immediate action to ensure the rescued dogs receive proper care.
