Justice for Dogs Allegedly Showing Symptoms of Anemia, Dehydration, and Flea Infestation

Target: Heather Adams, District Attorney of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Ensure rigorous prosecution for the alleged abuse and neglect of vulnerable dogs

In Lancaster, a shocking discovery has reportedly been made, uncovering a grave scenario of alleged animal mistreatment. Two dogs, found in conditions described as malnourished and abused, have ignited a wave of concern and outcry for justice. This incident, brought to light by the Pennsylvania SPCA, alongside Lancaster County detectives and local police, involves a couple, Pablo Duran and Donna Renee Smeltzer, now facing serious charges.

Details emerging from the investigation depict a harrowing tale of potential neglect. Beans, a brown pitbull-type dog, allegedly showed signs of extreme malnutrition, scoring the lowest on the Purina Body Condition scale. Symptoms of anemia, dehydration, and flea infestation were reportedly observed, alongside visible skeletal prominence. Pompei, a miniature poodle, reportedly suffered from severe physical injuries, including a displaced fracture and indications of possible strangulation. These findings point towards a seemingly disturbing lack of care and intentional harm.

The necessity for strict legal action stems from the depth of suffering endured by these animals. Their conditions suggest a prolonged period of neglect and abuse, highlighting a seemingly blatant disregard for their well-being. This petition demands that the responsible parties face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, reflecting the severity of their alleged actions. Send a clear message that such inhumanity will not be tolerated.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Heather Adams,

We reach out to you with a grave concern over a distressing case of alleged animal cruelty within your jurisdiction. The recent discovery of two dogs, Beans and Pompei, in conditions that suggest severe neglect and abuse, demands our collective attention and action. The individuals implicated in this case, Pablo Duran and Donna Renee Smeltzer, reportedly failed to provide the basic necessities and care, leading to the animals’ suffering.

The details of this case, as investigated by the Pennsylvania SPCA and local law enforcement, paint a grim picture of potentially intentional mistreatment. Beans’ emaciated condition and Pompei’s physical injuries, including a fractured leg and signs of possible strangulation, call for a response that matches the severity of these allegations. The animals’ suffering, evident in the physical signs of reported neglect and abuse, necessitates a rigorous legal response.

We urge you to ensure that this case is prosecuted with the utmost seriousness, reflecting the community’s stance against animal cruelty. The alleged actions of Duran and Smeltzer should be met with appropriate legal consequences, providing justice for Beans, Pompei, and setting a precedent for the treatment of all animals. It is crucial that our legal system responds decisively to such alleged acts of cruelty, affirming our commitment to justice and the protection of the vulnerable.

Sincerely,

  1. What the hell is wrong in PA? The state is always on this site for cruelty to animals. I used to live in PA buttony years ago. At the time I thought it was a great place to live. Obviously not. Lancaster was famous for the Amish and their coking and baking. But I never knew of any severe problems with cruelity as are evident today. I am sorry for all the harm which keeps happening but it happens everywhere. Our society is becoming more insane and far less compassionate than ever before. When will this end?
