Goal: Give prison sentence to woman who reportedly set fire to home with dog inside.
Melissa Kay Barks was arrested after authorities stated she intentionally set fire to a residence with her and a dog inside of it. Unfortunately, the dog was said to have died because of the alleged incident. She must spend time in prison if it is found she committed this crime to make it less likely other animals will needlessly suffer.
Barks was indicted on one count of arson, one count of aggravated arson, and one count of felony cruelty to animals. The dog likely died frightened and in an extreme amount of pain if such a fire was set. Additionally, committing such an act could also put neighbors in danger.
Sign this petition to demand Barks be given the toughest prison sentence possible if she is found guilty of this heinous act.

Dear District Attorney Lynch,
Melissa Kay Barks is currently in jail for reportedly starting a home fire while she and a dog were inside of the residence. Although reports state she successfully got out, it was said the dog did not survive. If Barks is found guilty, it is important she be given a prison sentence to better ensure other animals will not suffer under her care. She has been indicted on one count of arson, a second count of aggravated arson, and one count of felony animal cruelty.
The dog likely suffered immensely before finally succumbing to death in the allegedly intentional fire. Nearby neighbors could have further been in danger. I therefore urge you to suggest she receive the harshest sentence possible and that she also not be allowed to own or care for animals if it is discovered she is responsible for this horrible fire.

What in the hell is wrong with this stupid ho bag? The dog should have survived, not her!! Keep her in jail for a very long time!
What’s wrong with this woman? She wants to commit a heinous crime and get away with it. She killed the dog in a horrible manner. Fire burns and is torture and that’s an understatement. People like this don’t deserve a trial, just prison. What could be the excuse of anyone with mental faculties to do something so evil? Prison is even too good for this woman. She is now a danger to society. This can not be overlooked. She has no right to do this act again or any other torture to any person, child or animal.
If she set the fire with herself and the dog inside, and she let herself out. She murdered the dog! She burned the dog alive in the house. She is a murdering monster. She deserves to be in jail, and stay there. What a psychopath. She has no right to walk freely around, after setting a fire (arson) and burning an innocent animal alive.
