Justice for Shelter Dog Allegedly Found Starved With Visible Spleen, Ribs and Vertebrae

Target: Daniel G. Zeigler, Carbon County, Utah Sheriff

Goal: Ensure justice and reform for the alleged severe neglect and starvation of shelter animals.

Alarm bells rang loud when Dr. Dan Harmer of Castle County Vet, Price, reported a harrowing case. A dog named Waffles, from Carbon County Animal Shelter, reportedly arrived shockingly malnourished. His ribs, vertebrate, and spleen were allegedly visible, raising serious concerns about possible neglect at the shelter. Waffles, once a healthy stray, had reportedly lost 12 pounds since his neutering a month earlier. This drastic change demands urgent attention and action.

Further details unearthed by Dr. Harmer pointed towards alarming inconsistencies at the shelter. Employees were reportedly given conflicting instructions regarding the dogs’ feeding regimes. Some were allegedly told to feed the dogs only a half cup of food daily, others a full cup. This discrepancy in care, coupled with Waffles’ severe condition, paints a distressing picture of the shelter’s management. The situation was severe enough for state veterinarian Dr. Daniel Christensen to step in, yet no malicious intent was attributed.

This petition urges an immediate and thorough investigation into these allegations. The Carbon County Sheriff, overseeing the shelter, must take action. The welfare of shelter animals cannot be compromised. Demand a comprehensive review and reform of the shelter’s practices to ensure no other animal suffers as Waffles did.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Daniel G. Zeigler,

We write to you with grave concern and a plea for justice. The alarming case of Waffles, an apparently severely malnourished dog under the care of Carbon County Animal Shelter, has raised serious questions about the shelter’s practices. Alleged discrepancies in feeding regimes and the shocking state of Waffles upon his arrival at Castle County Vet indicate a troubling lack of oversight and potential neglect.

Employees at the shelter reportedly received conflicting instructions regarding the amount of food to provide the animals. Such inconsistencies, coupled with Waffles’ drastic weight loss and visible malnourishment, suggest a possible systemic issue at the shelter. It is alarming that these alleged issues came to light only after the intervention of a concerned veterinarian, rather than through internal checks and balances at the shelter.

We demand a full investigation into these allegations and comprehensive reforms to ensure the well-being of all animals at Carbon County Animal Shelter. Measures must be taken to prevent such alleged neglect from occurring again. The community trusts your office to oversee the shelter and ensure the highest standards of animal care. We look to you for immediate action and accountability in this matter.

Sincerely,

Can someone please update this from Sheriff Ziegler to Sheriff Jeff Woods?
Ziegler is in Pennsylvania not Utah.
You want sheriff Woods in carbon County, Price, Utah or go above him to the state vet.
