Target: Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, India
Goal: Improve air quality and public health around the time of Dussehra festival.
Delhi’s air quality has been steadily deteriorating, raising both health and environmental concerns. During Dussehra this year, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reportedly reached a disconcerting level of 256. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), Delhi’s air quality categorically remained in the ‘poor’ zone. In alarming instances, areas like Anand Vihar and Burari even recorded AQI levels in the ‘very poor’ category, notably hitting 320 and 305 respectively.
While the air quality stayed consistently poor for five days, it stands at an elevated risk of worsening during the upcoming weekend. On a broader scale, adjacent regions including Gurugram and Faridabad in Haryana, and Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh, also suffer from low air quality. An AQI above 200 poses significant health risks, not sparing the flora and fauna within the environment either. It’s high time to implement a radical action plan.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Mr. Arvind Kejriwal,
Urgent attention is required concerning the hazardous air quality in Delhi, especially around the Dussehra festivities. We, the concerned populace, express vehement displeasure and insist upon immediate, substantive action.
Given your position as Chief Minister of Delhi, it’s your prerogative and responsibility to ensure the well-being of residents. In light of this year’s Dussehra, and the data provided by SAFAR, you’re earnestly implored to enact stringent air quality regulations. Allocate appropriate resources, engage in public awareness campaigns, and establish enforceable sanctions against activities contributing to air pollution.
Decisive measures must materialize. Failure to act not only reflects blatant neglect of public welfare but also undermines India’s commitments to global environmental accords. Kindly acknowledge the gravity of this matter and act promptly.
Yours Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
