Surge of Animal Abuse in Wealthy Town Must Stop

Target: Joseph Corradino, State’s Attorney for Fairfield County, CT

Goal: Punish individuals accused of neglecting and starving dogs to fullest extent.

One of the wealthiest communities in the United States seemingly does not treat all its living beings equally. At least two troubling incidents of alleged animal cruelty have recently emerged out of Greenwich, Connecticut. Both cases resulted in the deaths of innocent and reportedly neglected dogs.

The first case involves an allegedly illegal pet store. Authorities investigated the residence of Cassie Palmer after they were alerted to the deaths of three puppies on the premises. The officials seized twelve dogs from the residence and reportedly found evidence that Palmer had apparently been retrieving puppies and keeping them in dirty, confined quarters where they were vulnerable to disease. According to the reports, Palmer may have been using the residence as a pet store for profit. She even seemingly attempted to switch out a sick puppy with a healthy pup. And because of inept state politicians who refuse to prohibit individuals convicted of animal cruelty offenses from adopting animals, Palmer could soon be free to potentially collect more innocent dogs in the future.

She has been arrested, as has Aubriana Dejesus. In this unrelated Greenwich case, the suspect was taken into custody after Cornell University veterinarians contacted authorities about the reported severe malnourishment and emaciation experienced by a dog they were treating. This animal was apparently the pet of Dejusus; due to the reported severity of the dog’s condition the vets euthanized the animal.

Sign the petition below to demand prosecutors help ensure the health and safety of all innocents in Greenwich with strict penalties for any suspects found guilty of animal neglect.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Corradino,

Greenwich is often seen as a gold standard for a comfortable and high quality of life. As such, the agonizing deaths of four living beings from alleged neglect and malnutrition within this privileged community is an even more horrifying disgrace. These dogs, three of them defenseless puppies, were reportedly subjected to deplorable, disease-ridden living conditions and, in one of the cases, severe emaciation.

The separate cases involving suspects Cassie Palmer and Aubriana Dejesus are symptomatic of a larger problem, and only real accountability can even begin to address the epidemic of hidden and insidious animal abuse known as neglect. Please work for this accountability by pursuing the maximum possible charges and the maximum penalty for these suspects and anyone found guilty of cruelty.

Sincerely,

Why on earth would you even entertain the idea of this individual to be released and obtain more animals? This is not logical thinking. Please do not allow this to happen.

  2. she should be in jail sicko

  3. Dr. Tammy King says:

This person belongs in prison not out loose on our streets which she has free range to hunt and hurt our helpless children. Prison with a long harsh sentence for many years and it’s proven that animal abusers also abuse and murder children too.

  4. These innocent animals need our protection from cruel heartless and greedy monsters like Cassie Palmer and Aubriana Dejesus. They must be severely punished and not be allowed to deal with animals permanently. ANIMALS ABUSE/CRUELTY should not be taken lightly!

  5. Julia Taylor says:

What is it with the well off and animal abuse? Its like the wealthy where im from like to prance around on horses in red jackets. Hunting foxes and stags. Sick bastards.

    • Naila M Sanchez Johnston says:

AMEN!! THIS IS ATROCIOUS!! NO MATTER THE AMOUNT OF MONEY CRUELTY RUNS DEEP!! I AM ENRAGED WITH THESE ANIMAL MURDERS AND DEATH TO THOSE PEOPLE INVOLVED!!

  6. The criminal “justice” system is a joke. People need to start seeking justice against animal abusers in their own. Only then will there be any hope if change

  7. Wendy+Morrison says:

STOP ALL ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ABUSE TOWARDS ALL ANIMALS IMMEDIATELY!!! ANYONE IN CONNECTICUT WHO ABUSING AND TORTURING AND COMMITTING ANY ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ABUSE TOWARDS ANY ANIMALS SHOULD RECEIVE EXACT TORTURE AS THEY HAVE INFLICTED 9N ALL INNOCENT AMIMALS!!!!!
STOP ALL ANIMAL CRUELTY AND ABUSE IN CONNECTICUT & ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AS WELL AS WORLD WIDE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!

  8. These two women need to be slammed according to their criminal actions. Starving of dogs and placing them in filth is against even the weakest of our laws. They are accountable and should face the judicial system in pursuit of justice, Real Jucitce. We need national laws in order to protect animals and pursue their offenders. State by state doesn’t work. Felonies might improve the situation but only stronger laws and punishment will help. These people need to pay extreme fines, pay for vet care, foster care, and pet adoption fees. If the lose their homes, bank accounts, credit stance that’s just part of the price they pay for harming animals. People need to suffer the choice they themselves made. Until then little hope is left. Honestly these women deserve nothing. b ut the animals deserve everything!

  9. Heinous behavior. Prosecuting with long sentences, large fines and the banning of owning any animal ever again should be the least of their punishments.

  10. Criminal justice system for the abuse or neglect of animals is a complete joke , these sickos should be hanged !

  11. Nadine Brundage says:

Justice for the voiceless, innocent animals who suffered at the hands of heartless, evil humans. Better laws are needed to protect animals from cruelty. Hope justice will be served .

  12. My family is from Greenwich. If a town like Greenwich can’t find the political will to enforce the law, what hope is there? We need more aggressive legislation and strict enforcement. Period. Unfortunately, as with many affluent places, the police are loathe to come down on even the most blatant abuse. These people should never be allowed to keep animals again…and deserve jail time. Enforce the law!

    • Gilda Provenzano says:

Guess what? Pos who is well off dumped thier elderly cat on me. Ever hear of Deere products? Whole family are scammers and pos daughter dumped cat on me.

  13. Connecticut is better than this, or should be. Where are the authorities that inspect ‘rescues and pet stores’? Better yet, why aren’t there laws that would protect animals from lowlife creeps like these and put them in jail when they are found out? Stronger laws, better enforcement, ban the guilty from ever touching an animal again and most important, judges who will do their duty and put these freaks in prison where they belong.

  14. A wealthy community!!! Does anyone really think these two people will get any sort of punishment near what they deserve. Nope, again it’s a wealthy community where people can usually buy their way out of trouble.

  15. Sherry Akridge says:

Just because you have money and lots of it, does not guarantee that you are a good person. You can still be a monster. Monsters come in all shapes and sizes, ages and income. All animal abusers deserve prison. All animal abusers are the scum of the earth. Plain and simple. They deserve nothing, no special treatment at all!

  16. Maria Lavorato says:

What is wrong with you Connecticut?
Many animals suffered and many died and you turn a blind eye by allowing these monsters free and to collect more animals?

Are you all useless zombies void of any compassion?
Have you lost your moral and just compass or were you always void of it?

These two and all other animal abusers need be held accountable with severe punishment including fines.

But what would be much better would be a firing squad for all animal abusers and lawmakers, politicians that don’t give a tiny rats ass for the dire fate of innocent animals.
Get some real laws to pass for animal cruelty!

  17. Justice usually interprets to punishment befitting the crime. These are serious crimes by any standard and if CT has any desire to deliver the law, their judicial system will take these two women and lock them behind bars without food or water, equal to the hell they sentenced on innocent animals. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY CONNECTICUT. The women are criminals!

  18. Julia Edinger says:

I totally agree with.. Dr. Tammy King
“This person belongs in prison not out loose on our streets which she has free range to hunt and hurt our helpless children. Prison with a long harsh sentence for many years and it’s proven that animal abusers also abuse and murder children too.”!!!!

  19. Urszula Lund says:

These psychopathic monsters are dehumanized, desensitizd and sadistic psychopaths! NO animal deserves to be a victim of pathological human scum! Crimes committed against animals are increasingly grotesque because the punishment for animal abuse is not severe enough, and in many cases does not exist. A slap on the wrist is a MOCKERY of animal victims. These dehumanized sadistic psychopaths must be severely punished. They must also be banned from coming near animals ever again!
SET a PRECEDENT. PUNISH TO FULL EXTENT OF LAW! MAX JAIL.

  20. Laura Rolder says:

This will only stop if the Justice system holds these evil abusers accountable. Lock then away for Max Felony prison time for each and every animal they abused and neglected. They should never be allowed to live in society because they will do it again to innocent helpless animals. Stop letting them off with a slap on the wrist. Please do right by the innocent animals.
