Ban Toxic Pesticides That Target Bees and Butterflies

Target: Ms. Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety

Goal: Protect pollinators such as bees and butterflies by banning the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in the European Union.

Neonicotinoid pesticides, chemicals known to target the central nervous systems of insects, have been linked to the decline of pollinators such as bees and butterflies. These pollinators are essential for the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services, including the pollination of crops that are vital for human food production.

The European Union has already taken steps to limit the use of neonicotinoid pesticides. However, further action is needed to protect pollinators and ensure the long-term health of our ecosystems.

By taking action to protect pollinators, we can safeguard the biodiversity of our ecosystems and ensure the long-term sustainability of our food production. Sign below and demand that Ms. Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, take action and support this critical initiative.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Kyriakides,

I am writing to urge you to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in the European Union to protect pollinators such as bees and butterflies. These pollinators are essential for the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem services, including the pollination of crops that are vital for human food production.

Neonicotinoid pesticides have been linked to the decline of pollinators, and it is imperative that immediate action be taken to protect them. The European Union has already taken steps to limit their use, but further action is needed to ensure the long-term health of our ecosystems.

We urge you to ban the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in the European Union to protect pollinators and promote sustainable agriculture. By doing so, we can safeguard the biodiversity of our ecosystems and ensure the long-term sustainability of our food production.

Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.

Sincerely,

  1. Americans still don’t pay attention. If bees die, bats die, even insects die then birds will die and on and on it goes. Nature has built everything connected to everything else. Bayer is still selling Round Up and stores stock it due to customer demand. All the while it causes cancer. Are we all so stupid? The EU can and should do a better job. America has really fumbled the ball. We will not eat without pollinators. This world now must feed 8 billion people. The world can not afford to maintain the bottom line for those corporations looking to increase their bottom lines at our expense. That may seem like good business practice but they are killing their customers. They may feel they will be so rich they can live without pollinators but it is a sure bet they can’t.

Companies and the people that run them let greed over-rule their common sense and facts. I’ll be so glad when humans are gone from this earth and nature can get back to the way it should be.

  3. Our ecosystem depends on them. Once bees go,man will soon follow.

  4. I agree with all three comments already here. It is so good to read well thought and well written comments instead of the ranting and raving about animal abusers.
(even though I agree about what should happen to them) So let’s stop using pesticides, help the world a little.

  5. Nina BATTISTA says:

No bees – no humans. No need to develop further…

  6. Heidi Niggemeyer says:

Not sure why we’re commenting on this for the EU when we can’t even get a handle on this in the US.

  7. Heidi, my thoughts exactly. “Not sure why we’re commenting on this for the EU when we can’t even get a handle on this in the US”.

  8. Maria Lavorato says:

    Agree with comments above.

In a perfect world, if everything was thought out for the long term, pesticides would have never been created. Everything would have been natural for the protection of ALL living beings.

So protect the bees etc and ban all pesticides. before there is nothing to protect!

  9. Wendy+Morrison says:

STOP USING TOXIC CHEMICALS TO KILL BEES IMMEDIATELY!!!

  10. Shirley Lemieux says:

It has been known for years that pesticides have been and continue to kill bees and butterflies and yet these pesticides are still being used and sold. Change can not occur on its own without intervention. Our eco system needs and deserves protection.
