Support a Faster Renewable Energy Transition

Target: Scott C. Miller, U.S. Ambassador to the Swiss Confederation and the Principality of Liechtenstein

Goal: Achieve a clear roadmap for a faster transition to renewable energy.

The Davos World Economic Forum (16th -20th January) is a flagship event with potential to endorse rapid action against global climate change. However, without an actionable roadmap to achieve this, the event might just again prove to be a highly marketed melee of corporate and political bigwigs. A lot has already been said on this issue, and much less has been achieved. The US delegation has the ability to prove to be a defining voice in shaping global policies and normalizing rapid renewable energy transition.

The key obstacle against the transition to sustainable energy is calculated denial from a fossil fuel lobby intent on maintaining its crumbling status quo. Public opinion toward the acceptance of clean energy is already too powerful to ignore. This is especially true in the face of apocalyptic natural disasters all over the world in recent years.

The provisional global climate report 2022 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) enlisted losses of billions of dollars due to unprecedented climate change. In September 2022, for the first time, it rained instead of snowed on the Greenland ice sheet. The Sixth Assessment Report of the IPCC noted a significant rise in mortality and morbidity in North America owing to the effects of climate change. These authoritative reports indicate the urgent need to act fast instead of wasting valuable time and resources diverted to sustain fossil fuel dependency.

By signing the following petition, you can participate in a defining moment of life on Earth as we know it. The US fossil fuel lobby urgently needs to accept the inherent flaws of clinging hard to its unsustainable practices. US policymakers at Davos WEF 2023 must reaffirm their commitments to initiating an actionable roadmap for the fast transition to renewable energy.

PETITION LETTER

Dear Ambassador Miller,

As the leader of the US delegation to the Davos World Economic Forum, you are being looked upon as a key policymaker in initiating the rapid transition to renewable energy. The next few days in Switzerland have the potential to formulate a well-defined strategy to counter the effects of climate change.

Besides the economic impact, climate change also has a heavy toll on living conditions around the world. The IPCC notes a significant impact on the public health, water supply, ecosystems, and food chain in North America, according to its Sixth Assessment Report. The September 2022 report of the WMO also indicates serious perils from aggravating greenhouse gas emissions. It’s high time that the fossil fuel lobby must realize the impacts of the unsustainable practices costing billions of taxpayers’ funds every year.

We are asking you, Ambassador Miller, to rise to the occasion, and serve as a major voice in shaping the consensus against the fossil fuel lobby.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
