Goal: Prosecute person or people apparently responsible for neglect of 100 animals to the fullest extent.
What do sheep, horses, goats, dogs, cats, turkeys, chickens, and baby ducks have in common? All of these animals were allegedly victims of severe neglect and cruelty on the same Pennsylvania property. In total, 100 animals were seized from the Quarryville residence, including 11 dogs, 27 cats, 5 horses, 4 sheep, 1 goat, 2 turkeys, 32 chicks, 4 guinea hens, 6 hens and 8 baby ducks. According to reports, these animals were living “in filth” in “extremely unsanitary conditions.”
Fortunately, these animals have undergone veterinary care, and the state’s animal welfare organization is in the process of securing them new homes. An investigation is ongoing. Similar cases in the region, however, have resulted in minimal penalties.

Dear DA Adams,
Over 100 animals were recently seized from a Lancaster County premises that was reportedly in deplorable condition. These seemingly neglected animals were only rescued after a call from a good Samaritan. Two other recent animal cruelty cases within the county, one involving 25 charges against a woman and the other pertaining to a puppy breeder, resulted in convictions with either suspended or bare minimum jail sentences attached. More disturbing still, both of the individuals in these cases were not permanently barred from having animals in the future.
Do not let this case fall victim to an equal injustice. Once the investigation is completed, seek full charges against all involved parties. Animal cruelty is a serious offense that can be a predictor of future criminal behavior. Please start treating it as such.

This should not be an issue. This happens all over the country and 90% of the people are not Amish. It’s the same as saying it’s ‘tradition’ to torture animals. It’s all disgusting and sickening.
Wonder if the animals care what ‘culture’ their abusers were ? They only care that they are being treated with kindness and humanely which they were not.

All over this country, animal abuse is tolerated and I’ve yet to see true justice done! Huge cockfight in Georgia in 2020 and only read about it 1 time – none of the “news” stations (WYFF4 and WSPA7) even reported on it (but let a storm come through and every other word is Impact!). Spineless prosecutors don’t give jail time, very low fines (if any at all) and plea deals that make me sick! Karma bats should be used on these people!

There will never be justice for these and other animals as long as the laws exist as they are and spinless judges don’t even hand what these weak laws allow.
It’s past time for Pennsylvania to take animal abuse seriously and to start actually prosecuting and punishing these abusers. PA is getting a reputation like Florida and Texas and (worst of all) Mississippi. If there are no consequences for this crap then it will never stop and if no actions are taken then PA is actively enabling and encouraging abuse. Sickening.

Pennsylvania has a history of snubbing its nose to extreme animal cruelty cases. The States Law makers care more about themselves then to be good stewards towards animals. It is a shame that animals exist in a State where animal abusers can cause severe neglect and cruelty to animals without consequences that reflect the crime.
