Recently, a lion in Kenya was discovered trapped in a wire snare that nearly severed his paw. Luckily, veterinarians arrived on the scene in time to free the lion before he died of infection or hunger. A spokesperson for the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust insists this was the work of poachers, who are encroaching on lion’s prey sources and maiming the big cats. Unfortunately, this is nowhere near an isolated event. Tens of thousands of these traps are thought to be set up across Kenya.
Despite international efforts to combat the illegal killing and dismemberment of endangered animals, poachers are still thriving. In the first six months of 2022, 259 rhinos have already been killed for their horns in South Africa. At this rate, rhinos will likely be extinct by 2036, followed by multiple other highly poached animals. Several important wildlife rescue organizations—such as the one which helped to save the trapped lion—exist to combat the devastating effects that poachers have on individual animals and entire populations.
Sign this petition to demand the U.S. increase funding to anti-poaching agencies to help provide the necessary resources for them to continue—and expand—their fight for animals’ lives.

Dear President Biden,
Despite widespread efforts to curb the illegal killing of animals, the poaching crisis continues to threaten the stability of endangered species. Recently, an animal welfare organization in Kenya stumbled upon a lion whose paw was nearly severed from a wire snare trap. Thankfully, veterinarians on scene were able to save him— but many others aren’t so lucky.
Already, in the first six months of 2022, a total of 259 endangered rhinos were killed for their horns in South Africa. If these mutilations don’t stop soon, poachers will likely hunt rhinos to extinction by the year 2036—a fate that dozens of other poached animals including pangolins, Asian elephants, lemurs, and tigers face as well. There are many agencies and organizations doing their best to protect these incredible species, but they cannot do it on their own.
We are asking you, Mr. Biden, to increase funding to anti-poaching organizations and help them in their fight to conserve our wildlife from money-hungry poachers.

As soon as animal welfare lawyer sends me article where it is ILLEGAL to import animal body parts here i will post it. Not sure if you heard about pos who bought live animals here in N.Y. airport. Arrested. Security is very tight regarding import of animals. DEAD OR ALIVE.
Since the USA is known for it’s trophy hunting lovers it’s only right that we at least work to stop poachers, we’re losing too many animals to both of these groups so stopping one is better than none. And if the hunters cannot import their kill, or trophies, maybe they’ll consider other hobbies – we can only hope.
Some pos bought live animals at New York airport from another country. Was arrested. Those animals were bought to a sanctuary.
