Goal: Release Asha (aka “Beautiful”) the elephant to an accredited sanctuary.
Asha the elephant has been imprisoned under torturous conditions her whole life. She is apparently forced to give rides to zoo visitors and is abused by painful bullhooks, all for the zoo’s profit. It is time to rescue this poor elderly elephant.
Recently, Asha was renamed “Beautiful” by the Natural Bridge Zoo, which is imprisoning her in Virginia. It is suspected that the name change was intended to hide the fact that Asha is still being inhumanely imprisoned after all these years of efforts to free her.
Reportedly, the Natural Bridge Zoo has faced numerous investigations regarding the neglect of Asha. She apparently lives in solitary confinement in a tiny enclosure, has received inadequate medical care, and has been forced to endure brutal Virginia winters, which is particularly cruel for an animal from Africa.
Furthermore, Natural Bridge Zoo was apparently fined for six violations of the Animal Welfare Act and was also cited for failing to have Asha under control while providing forced rides to humans.
All in all, Asha’s existence sounds tragic and must be remedied. It is long past time for Asha to be sent to an accredited sanctuary to live out her remaining years in peace.

Dear Karl Mogensen,
Your roadside zoo has kept Asha the elephant long enough. She has made you a lot of money and generated tremendous publicity for your business. It is time to let her go. Please release her to an accredited sanctuary as soon as possible.

I agree with Susan Stamper – this needs to go to the authorities where hopefully someone will finally have the balls to do something anout it. Close the zoo down and let all of the animals live the life they deserve

If you are a witness to any of this abuse, besides signing a petition, you really need to reach out to the USDA and file an Animal Welfare complaint! It takes FOREVER for authorities to take action, even the USDA drags their feet but people can make all the difference. Getting pictures or videos also helps.
This goes for any facility, not just this facility.. BE THE VOICE OF CHANGE!

Elephants are not native to the USA. All imports of wild animals should be made illegal, and airlines should be banned from carrying them. Meantime this zoo should be shut down, and this elephant should be rehomed to a sanctuary, to live out what remains of her life in peace.
This poor old girl has earned a change.
If you know this is happening why is nothing being done? This so called zoo has numerous violations. Somebody is not their job in shutting this operation down. That elephant has endured enough cruelty and deserves to go to a sanctuary . Virginia must not care about innocent animals!
That’s because the USDA which oversees places like this (and labs with animals, and breeders, pet shops, etc.) does absolutely NOTHING. They can list extensive and horrific violations and they don’t do a damn thing.

I’m so sorry that Asha has suffered so much abuse and neglect, most of her life. Karl Mogensen is a slimy, snake for exploiting Asha(Beautiful) for so long and causing her such pain by beating her with bullhooks. Natural Bridge Zoo needs to be shut down once and for all and Karl Mogensen needs to be punished for abusing Asha all these years. She needs to be moved to an elephant sanctuary where she can live out the rest of her years in comfort and peace. I wish Asha(Beautiful) a speedy recovery and I hope she gets justice.
