Goal: Work for a national ban on the dog and cat meat trade.
Over four dozen dogs were rescued from an alleged dog butcher in Indonesia. They were the lucky ones. Around one million fellow canines become part of the country’s still-existing dog meat trade annually. The animals endure brutal captures and grueling trips crammed into cages, deprived of their ability to even open their mouths. These cruel incidents are just the beginning. Once the dogs reach their final destinations they await slaughter, spectators to the horrors that will soon befall them. Those horrors include bludgeoning and burning. Sometimes, the dogs are still alive for the last sick step in the ritual.
Indonesia has made weak attempts to curb the practice of butchering dogs, which mostly now exists in more rural regions of the country. They banned the consumption of dog meat and made stronger penalties for dog trafficking. A few areas have also made selling dog meat illegal. Yet a national ban on the dog meat trade (and cat meat trade) has not been pursued, despite repeated calls from animal rights activists.

Indonesian leadership must recognize the brutality of the dog and cat meat trade, as recent court rulings and bans on consumption and trafficking have indicated. Yet the practice still remains widespread due to lax enforcement of existing rules and a complete lack of prohibition of these trades at the national level. As a result, horrific videos depicting the sick realities of the industry continue to emerge and enrage individuals across the country and around the world.
Please listen to the calls from these concerned citizens for a national ban on industries that trade in unimaginable cruelty and slaughter.

Are you vegan? Cows, pigs, chickens, fish, etc., experience the SAME suffering as cats and dogs. The consumption of any animal is ABNORMAL.
If you eat pigs, don’t complain about other people who consume animals as well, the exploitation of one animal species directly influences other exploitation of animals, it’s all related.
The consumption of animals is not abnormal. They are part of the natural order of the food chain and have been eaten since the beginning of time. And animals eat each other. What is abnormal is torturing and treating animals inhumanely, and choosing domesticated, intelligent animals to eat. I grew up eating chickens and cows my father raised to feed his family. He treated every animal with care and kindness, and the last moment was quick as could be. And he hunted for deer to feed his family. They likely would have had only a few seconds of pain if that. It the carelessness, inhumanity, the abuses of factory farming and nonsensical cultural practices like using Bear bile for medicine that must be stopped.
People always define the suffering of others in manners personally comforting. I posted USDA data and articles exposing the cruelty involved in the massacre of trillions of animals yearly, globally, but my links are “awaiting moderation”. I lived on a dairy farm in a hunting community, people who “care” about animals don’t sentence them to violent death, you don’t consume animals because you honestly believe NOT consuming them is INhumane. Any death, quick or not, causes inherent suffering to a being who doesn’t willingly die. Nevertheless, the majority (>95%) of animals consumed globally are “produced” in FFs/CAFOs/ILOs. As long as you participate in “humanely violent” exploitation, you fuel exploitation of bears, cats, and dogs, speciesism is all related.

Because if you’re not vegan, your exploitation of “some” animals, including pigs, chickens, cows, fish, etc., directly contributes to a global mentality that makes animal consumption of ANY species normal, your behaviour fuels other behaviour that also consumes animals regardless of species. The US and China, where cat/dog meat consumption is also practiced, are ranked next to each other (33 and 34) in animal welfare….

The horrifying treatment of animals and humans must end now. Those committing these atrocities need to be prosecuted and removed from society forever. They are a menace to all.
