Target: Joe Biden, President of the United States
Goal: Support release of previously classified September 11 documents at request of grieving families.
September 11, 2021 marks 20 years since terrorists took the lives of thousands of Americans in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania. Families still grieving this tragedy have also dealt with the haunting possibility that individuals who aided and abetted these horrific attacks may have gotten away unscathed. Supporters of this ForceChange petition joined in the calls of grieving loved ones for transparency from the U.S. government. Spurred by such entreaties, President Biden has finally honored a pledge previous administrations dating back decades could not or would not acknowledge.
As decreed by an executive order, beginning the week of the anniversary a broad plethora of investigative documents relating to September 11 will be declassified and released to the public. Over the following six months, more documents will be disclosed. Survivors and families hope this information can shed light on potential Saudi links with the attacks.
Affected individuals who have been lobbying for years applauded the news. Said one woman who lost her husband that fateful day: “”we are thrilled to see the President forcing the release of more evidence about Saudi connections to the 9/11 Attacks. We have been fighting the FBI and intelligence community for too long, but this looks like a true turning point.”
Sign the petition below to commend a long-awaited action that may at last bring a measure of closure and peace to families impacted by devastating loss.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear President Biden,
You often speak of the empty chairs families who have lost someone to COVID-19 must encounter in their homes. For the loved ones most affected by the tragic events of September 11, 2001, those empty chairs have haunted them for decades. They recently implored you to d alleviate in some small measure their suffering and give them long-awaited peace of mind.
Thank you for answering their calls to action and declassifying documents that have for the past 20 years been shrouded in secrecy. Now, the thoughts and prayers given to these survivors at memorials across America will have greater resonance and meaning. Let the nation never forget.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
