Goal: Praise the Brazilian government for freeing firefighters who risked their lives to save the Amazon Rain Forest.
Recent years have seen unprecedented fires in the Amazon, and the Brazilian government placed blame on the brave firefighters who helped save the vital forest. Thank them for listening to the outcry of the people, including in this this ForceChange petition, and freeing the innocent heroes.
Preservation of the Amazon rain forest is important. It is often called the “lungs of the world” and is critical to the global carbon cycle. It is also the most bio-diverse place on the planet. Firefighters risk their lives to protect the Amazon, yet several of them were jailed on false arson charges. These erroneous claims stated that the firefighters purposely set the fires to receive fame and donations.
The courts in Brazil recognized the injustice, and it is a great relief to hear that the imprisoned firefighters were set free. Sign the petition to show support of the valiant firefighters, and thank the government for making the right decision.

Dear President Bolsonaro,
It was shocking to hear of the imprisonment of innocent heroes who were fighting to protect the globally vital Amazon rain forest. This was a backhanded political move to undermine the efforts of environmental groups in the area. It was appalling to accuse these firefighters of setting blaze to the “lungs of the world” on the erroneous pretense of gaining fame and money.
I am pleased to hear that the wrongfully accused have been released, and that the police officer in charge of the investigation has been replaced. I applaud this decision, and support the actions of the brave firefighters who risk their lives to protect the global environment.
