Success: Trees That Resist and Combat Climate Change Protected From Deforestation

Target: Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon

Goal: Thank Amazon for its financial support of climate-resilient forestry.

Trees across the Appalachian Mountains will be given a chance to thrive in the face of climate change, thanks to a $10 million conservation program funded by Amazon. The program, launched in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, seeks to remove carbon from the atmosphere, provide financial assistance to forest owners seeking to help the environment, and protect trees that have the ability to survive and even combat global warming.

Forests across the world are at risk of extinction within decades due the callous clearing of climate-resilient trees. Amazon, and those who signed this ForceChange petition, are seeking to alter this bleak future by preserving these climate change survivors. Amazon has funded a conservation project that will begin in Pennsylvania and Vermont and support and educate forest owners who wish to reduce their carbon footprint and maintain climate-resilient forests. The grant will fund scientific methods for regional carbon impact measurement and encourage forest management practices that increase the economic and ecological value of forests.

This funding can go a long way towards protecting forests and the wildlife that thrive within their borders. Sign below and thank Amazon for its renewed dedication to the environment.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Bezos,

Your recent decision to fund the preservation of climate-resilient forests is a crucial and impactful investment in the future. Forests are dying at an alarming rate due to the effects of climate change as well as human greed. The few trees that have developed a resilience to climate change must be preserved and your funding gives them a fighting chance.

The war against climate change and its irreversible effects will not soon be won. However, every battle counts and the world’s forests need all the help they can get. Thank you for dedicating a portion of your grant to combatting deforestation and climate change.

Sincerely,
