Success: Shoe Designer Embraces Eco-Friendly Manufacturing

Target: Kasper Rorsted, CEO of Adidas

Goal: Praise Adidas for their efforts to reduce deadly plastic and air pollution.

Adidas, a popular German shoe manufacturer, has set a new precedent for eco-friendly manufacturing. In addition to their line of shoes made out of recycled plastic, they are now reducing CO2 emissions, banning plastic bags in their stores, and preventing waste in their manufacturing plants. Praise this environmentally conscious initiative.

“In 2018 alone, we saved more than 40 tons of plastic waste in our offices, retail stores, warehouses and distribution centers worldwide and replaced it with more sustainable solutions,” stated Gil Steyaert, head of Adidas’ global operations team. They are not stopping there. Adidas signed the Climate Protection Charter for the Fashion Industry at the UN Climate Change Conference in Katowice, Poland. They pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30% before 2030 and to use only recycled polyester in every product and application by 2024.

Plastic pollution is responsible for countless animal deaths, including the whales in this ForceChange petition. Plastics pollute beaches through the world, entering oceans and then eventually the digestive tracts of most marine animals. One deceased Sperm whale swallowed over 60 pounds of plastic pollution, including disposable bags found in many retail stores.

Adidas is doing its part in combating this massive environmental threat. Sign below to thank them for their dedication to a healthier planet.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Rorsted,

Adidas has raised the bar in plastic pollution cleanup and prevention. Your dedication to this important cause is saving the lives of whales, turtles, and other marine life that is so susceptible to the effects of these materials. Not only are you cleaning up the beaches and manufacturing your shoes from recycled plastics, but you are also curbing your greenhouse gas emissions and banning the use of plastic bags in your retail stores. Your goal of utilizing only recycled polyester in your products will also make a positive impact on our suffering planet.

Marine life thanks you, the planet thanks you, and I thank you for doing your part during this global crisis.

Sincerely,
