Target: San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman
Goal: Applaud charging of suspect accused of murdering homeless people.
The suspect in a violent attack against homeless people has been formally charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder. San Diego Police have charged Anthony Alexander Padgett of Chula Vista for his role in a rash of attacks that terrorized the local homeless community.
Police allege that Padgett is the man responsible for killing two homeless men and viciously attacking two others. As detailed in this ForceChange petition, the victims of these attacks were subjected to savage violence. In all four cases, the victims were either burned or badly beaten. Police still have not identified a motive, as all four victims were reportedly sleeping when the attacks occurred.
Such a vicious assault on innocent civilians cannot go unpunished, and the serious charges issued to Padgett are an encouraging sign that senseless violence will not be tolerated, regardless of the victims’ social status. Sign the petition below to thank the San Diego police for catching this man and charging him accordingly.
Dear Chief Zimmerman,
I am writing to commend your department’s actions concerning the recent rash of violence targeted towards members of the local homeless community. All too often, crimes against the homeless go unreported or ignored, but the savage intent behind the recent burning and beatings demanded investigation.
By charging the suspect with murder, your department has sent the message that violence of any kind, regardless of a victim’s social status, will not be tolerated. Thank you for your response to these senseless murders.
