Witnesses reported seeing a man on fire running down the train tracks. Police later found his badly charred body. The suspect was spotted fleeing the scene, a gas can in hand. Around the same time, another victim was reportedly beaten to death. Two more victims were found alive, one beaten and the other burned. All attacks targeted homeless men and police state that they can be linked to the same perpetrator.
Surveillance footage and witnesses helped identify a 36-year-old man as the prime suspect. San Diego police have taken him into custody. Sign below and ask the prosecutor to seek the maximum penalty in this case.
Dear District Attorney Dumanis,
San Diego’s homeless population is in danger following four violent attacks. Two men died and two others were seriously wounded. We demand the maximum penalty in this case.
Police reportedly found a 23-year-old homeless man lying on the ground, a burning towel draped over his body. Witnesses saw a man crouched over him during the attack and stated that the victim’s clothes were on fire. Days earlier, a 61-year-old homeless man was reportedly beaten nearly to death. These men survived, but two other homeless men died in similar attacks.
These horrific attacks cannot go unpunished. Take a stand for the homeless population and seek the maximum penalty in this case.
