Goal: Demand that Hormel stop giving its business to an inhumane slaughterhouse.
The Quality Pork Processors (QPP) plant is under fire after video footage was released showing its inhumane treatment of pigs. Pigs are allegedly being tortured and beaten by plant workers before they are even sent to slaughter. Urge Hormel, one of the largest suppliers of processed meats, to stop purchasing from this cruel slaughterhouse.
Recent behind the scenes footage of the QPP plant in Austin, Minnesota has revealed some disturbing behavior by the employees. In one scene, an employee drags a pig across the floor with a metal hook. Another cuts a pig’s throat without proper anesthesia and beats it prior to slaughter. A pig appears to be alive and squirms as it is hung upside down from a hook and carried to the production line. In addition, the pigs are covered in feces and pus-filled sores calling to question the safety of the meat. QPP is a high-speed slaughterhouse. This means that the plant is required to turn out a large amount of meat in a short time. Apparently, this leaves no time for humane treatment or quality control.
Hormel is one of the leading suppliers of processed meats. If Hormel were to stop purchasing its products from the QPP plant then that would set an example for other companies. Join us in urging Hormel to terminate its business with QPP and support the ethical treatment of animals by signing the petition below.

Dear Mr. Ettinger,
At a slaughterhouse in Minnesota, pigs are abused and tortured prior to slaughter. They are reportedly beaten, dragged, and killed without the use of anesthesia. We urge you to consider terminating your contract with the QPP Austin plant and supporting ethical treatment of animals.
Recent film footage from the slaughterhouse reveals the horrific acts of the employees as they prepare the pigs for slaughter. When a pig is unable to walk, it is shown being pierced with a metal hook and dragged across the floor. Other pigs are seen being beaten and sent to production alive. These employees appear to have no problem putting the pigs through unnecessary pain and suffering prior to their death. In addition, the conditions are unsanitary. The pigs are covered in feces and pus-filled abscesses, which questions the safety of the resulting meat.
We urge you to reconsider your relationship with the QP Austin plant. Terminating your contract would send a message that this kind of horrific animal abuse will not be tolerated.

I don’t eat meat. That’s why I’m boycotting all slaughterhouses. In my opinion; slaughtering animals for meat is not good.
That’s why I’ll only eat vegetables in my vegetarian diet.

What about the pain the vegetables feel when they are ripped off the vine – when you rip them apart with your teeth – when you take a knife and sliced them apart or maybe take it and throw it in a blender — wouldn’t it be like sticking your hand down a running garbage disposal– not very humane either

Everyone should be boycotting these slaughterhouses, it kind of makes you think what you are eating on your plate. These animals are going to die anyway but to do what these happy killers do is unacceptable and has to be stopped. They are alive and breathing and I wonder would these workers like to be dragged and abused . I would love to abuse them for what they are doing. What kind of family life do these unhappy people have to do this by day and go home at night. These people are not human, these people enjoy abusing helpless animals. They all should go to jail and get fired. I am tired of seeing this sick inhumaine act on poor animals.

No slaughter-house is a good place for any animal – cow, pig, sheep, turkey, chicken, duck, goose. There is no humane slaughter, even where there is ‘good’ practice. These are sentient beings, able to feel emotions, fear, loss. They know what is happening from when they are tightly packed into trucks.
Animals should not be treated as a commodity. What we can do is stop eating them. We don’t need meat or dairy to be healthy, and now we are told that there is a higher risk of cancer with these products.

A vegan diet is a compassionate diet. It will help the planet too. Animal farming is one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases, deforestation and a future water crisis. Billions of farmed animals are killed each week to feed the world’s human population, and yet we still have starving people in the world. More crops are grown to feed animals, than to feed humans. This situation can be changed with us ? go vegan!
I would need to be taught how to do it. I am not a complete vegetarian, but I eat very little meat. Giving up cheese would be the most difficult for me.
If more people stopped buying dairy products like cheese, you can bet your booty the marketplace would soon be filled with even MORE vegan cheeses.

I had been signing for long time everything that helps animals of 4 paws(we are also animals but the worse kind on earth) and environment. I put candles for them not for humans because the great majority of them should be tortured and killed, just read this petitions. How can someone abuse, tortura an animal that is not doing nothing bad and even if a dog bites is not case to kill him, is the case as the human consider themselves a superior species (not me spciesism is just the most egocentric, selfish act), these humans should understand why that happened, and not expect the dog to understand them. I am assuming there is no regulations to stop this mistreatment and that’s why there is this petition? It is hard believe that there is no regulation to prohibit this behavior, even though I am sure it won’t surprise me if there is little to no regulation at all.

I am continously disgusted by such evil acts and I am pleased that I do not purchase any Hormel products. I make it a point, no matter how tedious, to consume products that are American Humane Society approved.

There is no end to what kind of cruelty some people are capable to do against innocent animals…as their lives are endured as life long prisoners in order to end up in plastic cover in the stores.
