Success: Ukraine Protects LGBT Employees

Target: The ForceChange Community

Goal: Applaud the law that will protect LGBT employees in Ukraine by fighting discrimination.

A law that protects LGBT employees by prohibiting employment discrimination against LGBT people in Ukraine has been passed thanks in part to petitions like ForceChange’s Speak Out Against Homophobic Censorship in Ukraine. The LGBT rights movement in the former Soviet Union has finally gained some traction with the passing of this law.

Although this was the last bit of legislation required by the E.U. in order for Ukraine to allow its citizens to travel to the E.U. without needing visas, it is still progress nonetheless. LGBT activists in the country hope that the law will signal open engagement between the Ukraine government and the LGBT community, and that the government will truly enforce the new law.

Ukraine has been very against anything related to LGBT rights or even LGBT people in the past, so this is a positive step in the right direction. Applaud the passing of this law that will help to protect LGBT workers in Ukraine.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Members of the ForceChange community,

Thanks to our work petitioning injustices against LGBT rights in Ukraine, progress has been made and a law has been passed that will protect LGBT employees from discrimination. We can hope that the passing of this legislation is only the beginning of a future with additional protections and liberties for the LGBT community in Ukraine.

If we continue to fight for justice by making our voices and concerns heard, we may one day truly achieve equality for the LGBT community in this nation. Let us applaud the passing of this law and this progress in LGBT rights.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
