8-Year-Old Dog Apparently Stabbed to Death With Knife: Demand Justice

Target: Christopher J. Parosa, District Attorney, Lane County, Oregon

Goal: Fully prosecute the fatal stabbing of an 8-year-old dog if the evidence disproves the defendant’s self-defense claim and establishes criminal animal abuse.

An 8-year-old dog named Bear died from multiple stab wounds during a violent confrontation near a campsite. Police responding to emergency calls located 46-year-old Terence James Mcardle nearby and arrested him on a charge of first-degree animal abuse. A knife seemingly associated with the incident was recovered near where officers detained him.

Mcardle reportedly told officers that he acted in self-defense after Bear lunged at him, and officers say they observed puncture marks on his pants. Bear’s owner gave investigators a conflicting account, alleging that Mcardle had entered the campsite area while behaving aggressively and that Bear moved between the approaching man and his owner before the dog was fatally stabbed. Mcardle has not been convicted, and the competing accounts must be resolved through evidence and due process.

Prosecutors should closely examine witness statements, physical evidence, the recovered weapon, forensic findings, scene evidence, and any available recordings to determine whether the use of lethal force was legally justified. If the evidence establishes first-degree animal abuse or supports additional charges, pursue the strongest appropriate prosecution.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Parosa,

Bear, an 8-year-old companion dog, died from stab wounds during a confrontation near a Eugene campsite. Terence James Mcardle was arrested on a first-degree animal-abuse charge. He claims that he acted in self-defense, while Bear’s owner has provided investigators with a substantially different account of how the confrontation began.

Please ensure prosecutors carefully evaluate the knife, injuries, witness accounts, forensic evidence, scene reconstruction, and any available video before determining the appropriate charges.

If the evidence proves that Bear was unlawfully attacked and killed, pursue a conviction and serious penalties proportionate to the offense. Bear’s death deserves a rigorous, impartial prosecution that distinguishes legitimate self-defense from criminal violence and holds anyone proven responsible fully accountable.

Sincerely,
