Target: Brian Oerding, President of Six Flags Magic Mountain
Goal: Commend closure of ride suspected of causing several serious injuries.
A controversial amusement park ride reportedly linked to multiple brain injuries has been closed. This ForceChange petition detailed the most recent serious health ailments critics have linked to the X2 roller coaster in California’s Six Flags Magic Mountain. Following the hospitalization of two women days apart who apparently became ill after riding the coaster, the ride was temporarily shuttered.
The closure has become permanent. The president of the theme park released the following message: “We have decided to close the ride because we believe it’s the right thing to do. Ride safety is a cornerstone of our business, and when we see guest confidence affected, we take it seriously.”

PETITION LETTER:
Dear Mr. Oerding,
Thousands of children are injured from amusement park rides every year. At least three other facilities have ceased operations for roller coasters suspected of inflicting serious bodily harm on riders. Closing the 18-year-old X2 coaster may have been difficult, but it was indeed, in your own words, the right thing to do.
Thank you for this needed action for consumer safety.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
