Ten leopard skins recovered during a wildlife enforcement operation have triggered a far-reaching investigation into suspected organized poaching and trafficking. Investigators have traced the case toward the Kuno-Chambal landscape, where evidence has led authorities to suspected hunting sites, leopard remains, and equipment associated with illegal wildlife killing.
The State Tiger Strike Force has arrested several people while examining who may have hunted the animals, financed the operation, transported the skins, and intended to receive them. Investigators are also examining allegations concerning individuals connected to a wildlife organization. Wildlife SOS CEO Kartick Satyanarayan has denied involvement. He has been directed to cooperate with investigators, and no court has found him guilty of any alleged wildlife offense.
Authorities should trace financial transactions, communications, wildlife remains, transport records, digital evidence, and every suspected link between hunters, intermediaries, financiers, and buyers. Anyone proven to have participated in poaching or trafficking protected leopards should face serious prosecution.
