40 Birds Allegedly Confined for Organized Combat: Demand Justice

Target: Luz Adriana Camargo Garzón, Attorney General of Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia

Goal: Pursue all lawful penalties if evidence supports allegations that dozens of birds were confined in unsafe conditions and used in organized animal combat linked to commercial betting.

Authorities launched a coordinated enforcement operation after receiving information concerning possible unlawful activity at a rural property. According to public reports, police and environmental officers executed a search and discovered numerous birds in conditions investigators considered unsuitable for animal welfare.

According to investigative statements, more than forty gamefowl were found confined inside wooden crates with limited ventilation and inadequate access to water. Authorities further alleged that recovered items, including specialized metallic spurs, chemical compounds and accounting records, may indicate organized animal combat activity and related financial transactions. Three individuals were detained and prosecutors began reviewing seized communications and records to determine whether additional participants may have been involved. No indictments have been finalized and no court has issued findings of liability.

If evidence ultimately establishes that animals were confined, conditioned or exploited for organized combat or wagering activity, meaningful accountability would be appropriate. Animal welfare protections exist to prevent avoidable suffering and commercial exploitation. Continued investigation and enforcement remain essential to discourage similar alleged conduct.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Camargo,

Authorities executed a lawful search and later removed numerous birds after conditions observed at the property raised serious animal welfare concerns. Investigators alleged that materials recovered at the site may indicate organized animal combat and possible financial activity connected to the operation.

Please ensure that this matter receives a complete and careful investigation and that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, all available legal remedies are pursued. If investigators determine that animals endured preventable suffering through organized combat activity, appropriate accountability should follow under applicable law.

Sincerely,
