Donkey Beaten and Forced to Work While Wounded: Seek Justice

Target: Lieutenant General Fannie Masemola, National Commissioner, South African Police Service

Goal: Ensure that any individuals ultimately found responsible for inflicting severe violence on a working donkey and forcing continued labor despite visible injuries face appropriate legal consequences.

A disturbing animal welfare investigation intensified after authorities and welfare organizations reviewed a video that depicted severe abuse of a working donkey. The footage showed the animal being repeatedly struck with heavy objects and forced to continue pulling an overloaded cart despite visible injuries.

Investigators located the donkey and removed it from the environment for emergency veterinary treatment. Medical teams identified deep tissue injuries and signs consistent with prolonged physical decline. Authorities continue efforts to identify the handlers shown in the recording while gathering evidence and interviewing community members.

Animals used for labor remain entitled to humane treatment and legal protection. The investigation remains ongoing and no court has determined responsibility. However, if the allegations are substantiated through lawful proceedings, strong accountability measures should follow to discourage similar alleged conduct and reinforce standards of animal welfare.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Lieutenant General Masemola,

Authorities are investigating a case of a working donkey who was subjected to repeated physical violence and required to continue labor despite visible injury. Animal welfare officials secured veterinary care for the donkey and continue working with investigators to determine who may have been involved. Authorities are also reviewing evidence and conducting outreach efforts to identify individuals connected to the incident.

We respectfully urge your office to support a complete investigation and, if supported by evidence and legal findings, pursue strong lawful action against any individuals ultimately found responsible. Please also support continued enforcement efforts to help prevent future alleged cruelty toward working animals.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
