A deeply disturbing investigation began after railway personnel discovered a severely injured senior German Shepherd mix hidden in a secluded maintenance area of a major transit hub. Security footage showed an unidentified individual dragging the animal into the area, fastening it to a steel pipe with a heavy industrial cable tie and leaving.
The dog was abandoned without food, water or medical attention despite suffering from what veterinary responders later identified as a severe untreated hip fracture and advanced emaciation. Railway workers found the animal unable to stand and emergency teams transferred the dog to intensive veterinary care, where it remains under treatment.
Companion animals depend entirely on human care and protection. Decisive legal action should follow and measures should be strengthened to deter future abandonment cases.
