Justice for Sushi the Dog, Forced to Perform Outside NY Mets Games

Target: Commissioner of the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs
Goal: Ensure appropriate penalties for the alleged exploitation and mistreatment of dogs used for profit at Citi Field.

The plight of Sushi, the pitbull, outside Citi Field has alarmed many animal lovers who assert that the dog is reportedly subjected to mistreatment and exploitation for profit. Sushi is made to endure long hours in hot weather with limited access to water or food, all while being paraded for photographs in exchange for money, raising serious concerns about the dog’s health and well-being. The owner, reportedly defiant and unconcerned by criticism, has created a disturbing spectacle that appears to be more about financial gain than the welfare of the animal involved. Numerous witnesses and animal experts have alleged that the conditions under which Sushi operates qualify as cruelty rather than entertainment.

Many have expressed their outrage over the apparent lack of action taken by authorities, despite numerous complaints and reports surrounding Sushi’s treatment. Observers have noted that the dog reportedly displays behaviors consistent with psychological distress, such as not panting in heat and remaining motionless for hours. The dog is trained to perform for monetary gain while allegedly having a pipe forced in its mouth, which critics argue is a clear sign of depriving it of its natural behaviors and needs. Local authorities and animal welfare organizations have failed to intervene appropriately despite the growing evidence of potential mistreatment.

It is imperative that the City Department of Consumer Affairs takes decisive action to investigate this situation thoroughly and hold those responsible accountable for their actions. Proper consequences must be imposed to protect these animals and ensure that no creature is subjected to such exploitation at the expense of profit and entertainment.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Commissioner,

The treatment of Sushi, the pitbull appearing outside Citi Field, raises significant concerns regarding animal welfare. Reports have suggested that this dog is being exploited for monetary gain, forced to perform under distressing conditions, and deprived of basic necessities such as access to food and water. Witnesses and animal care professionals have expressed their alarm at her apparent mistreatment, stating that leaving a dog in such an environment for extended periods is tantamount to animal cruelty. It is troubling that, despite numerous complaints and growing public outcry, appropriate measures have yet to be enacted to protect Sushi and others in similar circumstances.

Local authorities and welfare organizations have turned a blind eye to the allegations of mistreatment while fans frequently interact with the dog, often unaware of the distressing conditions surrounding her presence. Experts have suggested that the behaviors exhibited by Sushi could indicate severe psychological or physical distress, traits inconsistent with a happy and healthy pet. This not only poses a risk to the welfare of Sushi but sends a troubling message that exploiting animals for profit can continue unchecked in our community.

Immediate action is required to prevent further harm to Sushi and to penalize those who may be exploiting her for profit. It is essential that the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs steps in to conduct a thorough investigation of this situation and impose necessary consequences for any alleged violations of animal welfare standards. Protecting the well-being of animals must take precedence over profit-driven entertainment.

Sincerely,

  1. This must be stopped!

  2. New York really is the home of animal cruelty and neglect. Why has someone not taken the dog from the low life owner? Follow him until he is alone and take the dog by force if you have to and tell him if you ever see him with another dog he Will be sorry. Americans are just so chicken now no tough guys anymore, its really quite sad because your judiciary are a joke for sure.
