Don’t Put Cancer Screening and Prevention Pharmaceuticals Out of Reach

Target: Robert Kennedy Jr., U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services

Goal: Do not eliminate panel that supports affordable and accessible preventive medicines, screenings, and other health services.

Cancer, diabetes, HIV, heart disease: these are just a few of the conditions afflicting millions of Americans in which preventive medicine plays a vital role. For several decades, the Department of Health and Human Services has helped educate and widen access for resources like cancer screenings through the work of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. This panel of experts is comprised of volunteers who donate their time and their effort to beating back the chronic illnesses that claim so many American lives every year. But if Secretary of Health Robert Kennedy has his way, this task force – and its vital work – will be no more.

Kennedy is moving to dismantle the entire panel for no stated reason other than labeling it with the vague term of “woke.” Each member of this task force is selected for expertise and years of experience, and they receive no financial compensation for their involvement. In addition, every member is rigorously vetted for conflicts of interest that would impede the ability to make recommendations in a scientifically objective manner. The only person who seems to have an agenda in regard to the health department is the secretary himself, who also disbanded a vaccine panel and replaced members with known vaccine skeptics.

The American Medical Association (the country’s largest group of physicians) recently sent a letter to the department warning of the potentially dire consequences for patients if this proposal comes to fruition. Sign the petition below to join their calls for cooler — and more informed — heads to prevail.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Kennedy,

Countless lives are saved every year due to cancer and other preventive screenings. Patients take advantage of these life-saving services because they can get affordable – and often free – access because of the work of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. If this essential task force is indeed gutted, then insurance companies will once again be in the driver’s seat as far as covering critical preventive services. Millions of Americans will be priced out of access and, tragically, many of these people will die.

How exactly is this outcome Making America Healthy Again? Preventive medicine saves money and, most importantly, it saves lives. This isn’t about politics or supposedly “woke” beliefs, as every panel member is vetted for conflicts. This is about taking away one of the most vital tools for making a healthcare system a success story.

Rethink and reverse your decision on preventive service before it is too late.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
