Camel’s Leg Allegedly Hacked Off: Demand Lifetime Animal Ban

Target: Ayaz Tunio, Prosecutor General, Sindh, Pakistan

Goal: Pursue every charge supported by evidence, seek maximum penalties and fines, impose a permanent animal‑ownership and handling ban, and order full restitution for rescue, surgery, prosthesis, transport, and lifelong care linked to this reportedly mutilated camel.

A young camel allegedly suffered an amputation after an enraged farmer chopped off one of the animal’s forelegs when she wandered in search of food. Viral footage apparently captured the aftermath, with the injured animal crying out and bleeding, which triggered public outrage and official action. Rescuers later transferred the camel—now called Cammie—hundreds of kilometers for intensive treatment and sanctuary care.

Caretakers describe months of rehabilitation marked by severe fear and persistent distress sounds. Progress reportedly stalled until a companion camel soothed her, after which standing on three legs became possible. A custom blue‑and‑red prosthesis, fabricated by a U.S. company, was then fitted. She rose on her own and began slow steps, a hard‑won milestone born from patience and skilled veterinary work.

Firm prosecution can deter similar violence against working and companion animals. Laws that prohibit mutilation and cruel treatment should be applied forcefully, with maximum sentences, strong fines, and a lifetime prohibition on owning or handling animals. Sign below to demand full restitution for medical interventions, prosthetic manufacture, transport, rehabilitation, and sanctuary support. Such measures would honor this survivor’s ordeal and signal zero tolerance for alleged limb severing cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor General Ayaz Tunio,

Reports indicate a young camel’s foreleg was hacked off by a farmer after she strayed while searching for food, with viral video reportedly showing a grievously wounded animal in obvious distress. Officials moved after a public outcry, and rescuers transported the camel to Karachi for extended care, where she eventually received a custom prosthesis and began walking again.

These accounts depict deliberate mutilation and prolonged suffering. We respectfully urge your office to file every charge the evidence can sustain, seek the highest available penalties and fines, and request a permanent ban on owning or handling animals for any convicted party. Court‑ordered restitution should cover emergency stabilization, surgeries, prosthetic design and fabrication, transport, behavioral rehabilitation, and lifelong sanctuary costs.

A decisive prosecution would set a powerful precedent against alleged cruelty of this magnitude, protect other animals across rangelands, and affirm that intentionally inflicted agony carries serious consequences. Please act with urgency and resolve.

Sincerely,
