Stolen Puppy Reportedly Tortured and Discarded Dead: Demand Thorough Prosecution

Target: Robert Wilters, District Attorney of Baldwin County, Alabama

Goal: Pursue the toughest possible felony charges and lifetime animal-ownership ban for the person(s) who allegedly kidnapped, abused, and killed a family’s puppy.

A beloved 13-week-old Australian shepherd named Kiyo was reportedly snatched from his Arizona yard and vanished without a trace. Nine months later, Kiyo’s body surfaced hundreds of miles away on a rural Alabama roadside, showing what police described as “clear signs of cruel mistreatment and/or abuse.” The innocent dog was found under circumstances so disturbing that investigators immediately opened an animal-cruelty case.

Witnesses allegedly saw a dark, battered sedan at the scene, and authorities believe Kiyo endured prolonged suffering before his life was violently taken. According to his family’s earlier social-media pleas, the dognapper had been offered money—yet still chose to keep and apparently brutalize the puppy. Now, devastated children must be told their four-legged family member will never come home.

When defenseless animals are stolen, transported across state lines, and fatally abused, justice demands more than a slap on the wrist. A strong prosecution and maximum penalty will signal that such vicious acts will not be tolerated and may deter future offenders. The person(s) responsible must face the highest level of felony animal-cruelty charges, restitution for all investigative costs, and a lifetime prohibition on owning or caring for animals.

PETITION LETTER:

District Attorney Wilters,

A tiny Australian shepherd puppy named Kiyo was allegedly kidnapped from his Phoenix home, transported to Baldwin County, and ultimately found dead on County Road 68 with injuries police say indicate severe cruelty. This innocent dog reputedly endured months of suffering before meeting a horrific end.

Reports cite a dark sedan near the dump site and state that the animal’s condition clearly pointed to malicious abuse. Kiyo’s family had pleaded publicly for his safe return; instead, they received word that their cherished companion was discarded like trash.

We urge your office to treat this matter with the utmost gravity. Please file every applicable felony count, seek the maximum prison sentence and fines, require psychological evaluation, and impose a lifelong ban on animal ownership for anyone proven responsible. A firm stance will honor Kiyo’s short life and send an unmistakable message that Baldwin County will not tolerate brutal acts against animals.

Sincerely,
