Goal: Keep coalition government intact and lead by example.
Austria recently experienced its own political gridlock following a high-stakes election. The election results saw the ultra-far-right Freedom Party walk away with nearly one-third of votes. In order to prevent a party with Nazi roots from seizing control of the government, Austria’s three major parties labored for months to form a coalition government.
The talks crumbled multiple times, but eventually the parties – which consist of liberals, conservatives, and centrists – came to an agreement that would see them share governance duties. They have promised to work together on issues of importance to the people such as the economy, foreign policy, and immigration. But in order to earn the trust of the people, they have to deliver on these promises.

Dear Chancellor Stocker,
When the people made their voices known during the last election, they voted for meaningful and decisive change. It now falls upon this government to prove to its people that you can affect that change. Do not let promises of a coalition be empty words.
Maintain a spirit of healthy debate, open minds, and compromise. You have an opportunity to prove that politicians of different philosophies can work together and achieve results for the betterment of their nation. Please don’t sacrifice this opportunity to unite rather than divide, as it may not arise again.
