Stop Torturing Animals for Social Media Stunts

Target: Cyril Ramaphosa, President of South Africa

Goal: Prosecute individual accused of force-feeding alcohol to fish and ensure maximum penalties under animal protection laws.

A disturbing incident has come to light involving a South African businessman who apparently force-fed alcohol to fish in videos shared on TikTok. In one video, the man was seen holding a common carp and pouring what appeared to be beer into its mouth while laughing. Another video appears to show the man forcing two fish into a “kissing” position, remarking that “this one is thirsty.”

These videos, which have since been deleted but widely reshared, seemingly showcase blatant disregard for animal welfare and a troubling use of social media to glorify cruelty. The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) has identified the individual and is finalizing a legal case under the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962. This case highlights the increasing trend of animal abuse videos on platforms like TikTok, which normalize cruelty and exploit animals for entertainment.

The legal system must address this issue with the seriousness it deserves. By holding the individual in this case accountable and ensuring stringent penalties if he’s found guilty, authorities can send a strong message against the normalization of animal abuse. Justice for these fish will not only punish the perpetrator but also deter others from engaging in similar behavior.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Ramaphosa,

We are writing to express our deep concern regarding the recent incident involving a South African businessman who reportedly force-fed alcohol to fish and posted videos of these acts on TikTok. Such behavior is both inhumane and a violation of the Animals Protection Act 71 of 1962, as it showcases a blatant disregard for the suffering of sentient beings.

The videos, widely circulated online, seemingly depict shocking acts of cruelty, including pouring alcohol into a fish’s mouth and forcing two fish into a “kissing” position for entertainment. These alleged actions trivialize animal suffering and contribute to the growing trend of using cruelty for social media attention.

We urge you to ensure this individual is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This case presents an opportunity to set a strong precedent against the normalization of animal abuse on social media platforms. By ensuring that justice is served, you can send a clear message that such actions will not be tolerated and that all animals, including fish, deserve protection and respect.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We trust that you will take the necessary steps to uphold the principles of justice and animal welfare.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
