    I have been following the progress of this bird for several years. It was slated for consideration as the National Bird of India but the Peacock ended up winning. Maybe if it were the National Bird it would have received more care and attention and its numbers would not have dwindled so badly. It’s not too late to put in more effort and save this notable bird, the heaviest bird capable of flight.
