Stand Up for Consumers’ Reproductive and Medical Rights

Target: Karen Lynch, CEO of CVS Caremark

Goal: Do not restrict access to pills used for medication abortion.

California’s governor Gavin Newsom recently announced that his state would cease business relationships with one of the nation’s top pharmaceutical providers: Walgreens. The announcement comes in response to the corporation’s decision to not distribute Mifepristone—a drug used in medication abortions—to consumers in 20 states. Lawmakers and attorneys in these states had previously threatened the company with legal action if it provided the product.

The threats are coming from legislative bodies that have already made restricting or prohibiting a woman’s reproductive choices a top priority. As medication abortion gains increased prominence, attempts to ban associated substances nationwide are underway. Despite the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) assurance that any licensed provider can directly sell this medication, Walgreens has apparently surrendered to political pressure at the expense of its consumers.

Sign the petition below to persuade another pharmaceutical giant targeted by these allegedly freedom-loving politicians to make a different choice.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Ms. Lynch,

You are likely well aware of the backlash your competitor Walgreens has faced in the wake of its decision to prevent the sale of Mifepristone in several states. The company will likely suffer severed business relationships and boycotts as a result. Do not make the same mistake.

Federal agencies have assured you of your right to distribute these and related medications, despite the loud threats and hostile distractions from state leaders. If you follow the path of Walgreens, you will be choosing these authoritarian politicians over the lives and well-being of millions of consumers. As the leader of a pharmaceutical business, you know where your allegiance should rest.

Please support your right to conduct business, and in the process, support the reproductive rights of American women.

Sincerely,
