Enhance Economy And Better Lives By Fixing Immigration

Target: Joe Biden, President of the United States

Goal: Develop plan of action for expanding opportunities for immigrants in America.

When over 50 migrants allegedly smuggled into the country were found dead in a Texas trailer, the nation was horrified. These human beings essentially baked and suffocated to death in sweltering heat. Their tragic fate speaks to their desperation—a desperation partially fueled by a broken immigration system.

The number of individuals willing to give their lives for an opportunity to live in America is sadly increasing. Many flee from violence, others from dire economic conditions, some from the escalating effects of the climate crisis, and all from instability and hopelessness. Yet despite the fact that this nation is in urgent need of workers to fill still-vacant jobs, politicians are working overtime to deprive people willing to contribute of that chance. Too many government officials to count, willfully forgetting that every citizen in this country (save Native Americans) has immigrant roots, demonize immigrants and use them as convenient political punching bags. Moreover, they try every method possible to make it harder for individuals to even enter the country, let alone seek citizenship. The result is the inevitable exploitation of these desperate people by opportunistic criminals and humanitarian tragedies like the one that claimed so many lives in Texas.

Sign the petition below to demand American leaders make immigration reform a real priority.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Biden,

As long as the immigration system remains broken and as long as restrictive policies are the norm, certain politicians will continue using the lives of human beings as political wedges and outrage fuelers. Meanwhile, more immigrants desperate for a better life will perish in the desert or in the back of a packed trailer. Immigration reform should be a welcoming policy, not a means to shun people who would die for the privilege of being an American. With a solid and effective system for immigrants, the economy would benefit from an infusion of sorely needed workers, and the United States could again thrive as an inclusive melting pot.

Please stop letting the loudest and most hateful voices dominate this debate. Prioritize fixing the immigration system and making it a standard-bearer that truly symbolizes this nation of immigrants.

Sincerely,
