Target: Fabiola Munoz, Environmental Minister, Peru
Goal: Thank the government of Peru for fighting against deforestation.
Serious steps are being taken to protect the Amazon from deforestation. For years, the fate of the fragile rainforest has been debated and fought for in petitions like this one. Now, it seems one government is finally taking charge.
Illegal mining is one of the leading causes of deforestation in the Amazon. To combat this, the government of Peru has opened a military base in a camp abandoned by illegal miners. The military pledges to stay for as long as possible to protect the rainforest, as well as the native communities and endangered species that call it home. They will be enforcing laws against mining and deforestation via drones and satellite.
The Amazon provides Peru with one of its biggest tourist attractions and economic draws. Sign the petition to thank the government for taking steps to protect the rainforest and its future.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Minister Munoz,
The Amazon is one of the most naturally diverse areas on the planet. To lose it would be a tragedy. Seeing the danger it faces, you took direct action to stop deforestation and illegal mining in its tracks.
Thank you for taking a stand for the Amazon, its natural resources, and its native communities. I hope other nations follow your lead.
Sincerely,

This is a good thing since the Amazon is too beautiful and precious to lose to deforestation.
I’m not about to thank any country for protecting the Amazon forests.
80% of the earth’s natural forests have been destroyed and it is time for all countries to stop deforestation.
Deforestation should be a crime
Global deforestation causes severe weather conditions.
Hoping that this commitment is 100% forever!
Thank you!
