End Alleged Brutal Lab Testing on Beagles and Commit to Rehoming Dogs

Target: John C. Fanaras, CEO of Nucro-Technics

Goal: End brutal animal experiments and commit to rehoming all lab dogs before the Ontario ban takes effect.

Urgent action is needed to address the alleged shocking treatment of animals at Nucro-Technics, Canada’s largest contract animal testing facility. Undercover investigations have revealed disturbing accounts of beagles being subjected to horrific conditions, including whimpering and crying during forced tests, suffering mental distress from confinement, and being brutally handled during substance administration. The potential for adoption is reportedly gravely undermined by practices that often lead to dogs being killed and disposed of like garbage after experimentation. With an impending ban on invasive experiments due to take effect on January 1, 2027, it is imperative that Nucro-Technics exhibits compassion and provides a plan to rehome these dogs immediately.

The footage from investigations by Animal Justice and the Investigative Journalism Bureau (IJB) showcases the stark realities faced by these animals; they appear to be subjected to experiments that include being tied down, force-fed substances, and observing the suffering of their peers. With rescue organizations prepared to help transition these lab dogs into loving homes, Nucro-Technics has no justification for killing these animals instead of allowing them a second chance at life.

Taking proactive measures to ensure the welfare of lab dogs is not just a moral obligation but a necessary response to the heinous practices currently prevalent in these testing environments. The time for change is now. As the January deadline approaches, it is essential that Nucro-Technics commits to a comprehensive rehoming plan for all dogs and reassesses its ethical responsibilities towards these companion animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear CEO Fanaras,

The alarming conditions allegedly faced by dogs at Nucro-Technics, as revealed by recent investigations appearing to show brutal treatment and severe distress inflicted upon these innocent animals, demands a response. With Ontario’s forthcoming ban on invasive testing practices set to take effect on January 1, 2027, the urgency to take compassionate action for these dogs could not be more critical.

The reports document harrowing accounts, including beagles whimpering in pain during tests, being forced-fed substances through tubes, and witnessing the suffering of other dogs in these disturbing environments. This must spur a shift towards humane treatment, and there is no excuse for prolonging their suffering or ending their lives at the conclusion of experiments. Rescues are ready and willing to assist in the rehoming process, providing these dogs with the opportunity for a life filled with love and care.

We urge Nucro-Technics to accept responsibility and publicly commit to a rehoming plan for all lab dogs currently in your care. By doing so, you would send a powerful message about the need for compassion and the importance of animal welfare in research practices. It is time to choose empathy over cruelty.

Sincerely,
