Dogs Allegedly Left in Damaged Crates With Facial Cuts: Strengthen Cruelty Laws

Target: Brian P. Green, Monroe County District Attorney, New York

Goal: Ensure a full investigation and appropriate legal action after dogs were allegedly confined in damaged crates, with one reportedly suffering facial and head cuts.

Disturbing allegations have surfaced regarding multiple dogs allegedly confined inside crates under troubling conditions. Video footage obtained by local media appears to show several dogs inside the residence, and one dog was reportedly confirmed by animal welfare officials to have cuts on its face and head that were linked to a damaged kennel. The visible injuries and alleged confinement have raised alarm among community members who fear the animals may have been subjected to neglect.

Protesters called for the injured dog to be seized and immediately taken for veterinary care. However, animal welfare representatives explained that state law limited their authority to replacing the reportedly damaged kennel. Officials stated that the owner has since taken the dog to a veterinarian and that the home’s conditions meet current state requirements. Even so, advocates contend that the alleged injuries and repeated complaints warrant deeper scrutiny.

When credible reports suggest that animals may be confined in unsafe enclosures that cause injury, decisive legal review is essential. Demand authorities strengthen enforcement and pursue appropriate legal consequences, if violations are substantiated, to ensure that vulnerable animals are protected from any further alleged harm.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Green,

We write to express serious concern regarding reports that dogs were confined inside damaged crates, and that one dog suffered cuts to its face and head that were allegedly caused by a broken kennel. Video footage reportedly depicting the conditions has sparked widespread community concern.

Although animal welfare officials stated that the kennel was replaced and that the owner sought veterinary care, the reported injuries and alleged confinement raise questions about whether existing protections are sufficient. Animals depend entirely on human care, and any conditions that may cause harm deserve thorough examination.

We respectfully urge your office to conduct a comprehensive investigation and to pursue appropriate legal action should the evidence substantiate any violations of animal protection laws. Strong enforcement is essential to safeguard these dogs and to prevent any recurrence of alleged neglect.

Sincerely,
